  • Bio

Nick Grey & The Random Orchestra have been releasing experimental yet highly emotional music since 2002. Their songs are an expressive, soulful blend of torpid acoustic arrangements and unpredictable electronics. Nick's works have included collaborations with artists such as minimalist pioneer Charlemagne Palestine, Martyn Bates (of Eyeless in Gaza), Kris Force (Amber Asylum, Swans), Richard Moult, Matthew Shaw and many more. He is also a member of the "virtual collective" 48 Cameras (with Jean Marie Mathoul, David Coulter, Gerard Malanga...) and the unpredictable short film production entity Bouc Astral (www.boucastral.com).

  • Sounds Like

"There's little point in describing each song that Nick Grey has brought before us on this exceptional album. (...) One of the most truly ambient records I've heard in many a year" – Julian Cope (album of the month) //// "An eccentric and highly literate fantasy" – The Wire //// "(The album) passes back and forth across the border between lucid thought and a hypnagogic, dreamlike state." Among Thorns" is one of the best albums I have heard in years - one of my favorite albums Dark Holler Hand/Eye has ever released (though, to be fair, I am rather biased to them all). Still, I find this work enchanting and haunting in all the right ways. My highest recommendation" - Timothy Renner (Stone Breath)
