In 1989 Nickky Miller was born into a musical family and from an early age he was spoon-fed tales of life on the road by uncle, and ex-UK SUBS drummer, Steve Roberts. Tales of punk abandon and the lure of rock n' roll filled the mind of a young Nickky, it was never going to be long before he took on the world of music himself.
Caught up in the attraction of smashing drum skins and pounding pedals day and night, Nickky learned his craft behind the kit fast. By the age of 16, he had already mastered his art and joined the rank of York's high octane rock n' rollers KID EGO, playing to packed venues across the country and recording with well known producers world wide (Will Jackson, producer of the Kaiser Chiefs and The Music).. With a band of rock brothers in front of him Nickky thrived and before long no KID EGO live show was complete without the hard and rhythmic presence of Nickky Miller.
Nickky has managed to show off his stick skills and drum prowess across the UK, the US and Europe. On the road he has rocked crowds on some of the most famous stages in rock history, played alongside legendary musicians and earned plaudit after plaudit for his hard-hitting and energetic dynamic drum style.
The press surrounding him soon caught the attention of internationally renowned songsmith and showman Steve Steinman. Impressed by Nickky's youthful presence behind the skins, Nickky teamed up with Steve and prepared to embark on his biggest journey to date; as drummer of The Lost Boys band in his hit theatre gothic circus VAMPIRES ROCK.
As part of VAMPIRES ROCK, Nickky has played hundreds of dates across the UK and Europe, worked alongside wild child punk queen Toyah Wilcox and brought a whole new dynamic edge to the wide range of classic rock numbers performed as part of this celebrated rock spectacle. Nickky's journey with the theatre stage doesn't stop with VAMPIRES ROCK. He has also been an integral part of tribute show THE MEATLOAF TRILOGY as well as the forthcoming musicals BAD BOY JOHNNY AND THE PROPHETS OF DOOM (Formerly featuring Russell Crowe) , DOLLY THE MUSICAL and BAT THE SYMPHONY, that see's Nickky line up alongside The National Concert Orchestra Of Great Britain, commanded by BBC composer Greg Francis.
As his skills behind the kit continues to grow, he is also on his way to becoming an accomplished pianist, following the footsteps of his late grandfather and professional pianist George Roberts. George had a long professional career in music, he was the musical director of Caesars Palace for over 5 years and had regular slots playing with artists and friends such as Shirley Bassey, Tom Jones, Les Dawson, Judy Garland, Engelbert Humperdinck and Bob Monkhouse to name a few. He worked with everyone from Little & Large to Cannon & Ball and was regarded as ìthe finest jazz pianist in the countryî.
Nickkys love for writing music and being a song writer remains solid and impressive. Rocking stages night after night and planning a new musical odyssey for 2009, this drumming whizz kid has already taken on TV, press and world touring in his stride.
What is next on his hit list? Nothing less than THE WORLD!
