Influences are many and diverse, but include (wait for it) David Torn, Eno, Bill Nelson, Bill Frisell, Steve Fellows, Debussy, Duke Ellington, Rachmaninov, early Deep Purple, Jeff Beck, Steve Vai, Terry Riley, Focus, King Crimson, Adrian Belew, The Nice, Groundhogs, Wishbone Ash, the Bulgarian Voices, Steve Reich, Jimi Hendrix, Faure, Ravel, Roy Buchanan, God Speed You Black Emperor, COmsat Angels, Eric Johnson, Adrian Legg, Leo Kottke, early Pink Floyd, Gang of Four, XTC, Teardrop Explodes, Eels, Explosions in the Sky, Muse, Radiohead, Doves, Talk Talk and many more. Whilst you may not spot them, their influences have shaped my music and given me immense amounts of pleasure over the years!
Sounds Like
Ask my children and "boring" might well be the answer, but looping is as looping does. I guess it sounds like a little of everything I've ever heard, warped and remixed by my imagination.
Nick is a solo musician, using looping technology to create music, using the guitar as the basic sound source. What you hear rarely sounds like a guitar! He performs both improvised music and prepares more conventional "composed" pieces on the computer. He is an active member of the CT-collective, deighted to collaborate musically (in virtually any genre) and runs a popular looping forum.
