Born and raised in Chicago, Nick Rockwell was brought up listening to all types of ethnic and American music. It was when he was only 12 years old that he was introduced to house music while listening to late night radio mix shows. A couple years later he purchased a cheap pair of turntables and began working on the art of being a DJ. Throughout his early teens, Nick began to DJ at house parties and teen clubs in Chicago. He then began to sell mix tapes out of his trunk, which led him to build a huge following of fans and supporters. Eventually, Nick Rockwell grew to become a favorite in Chicago, DeeJaying at many of the cities biggest clubs including Crobar, Vision and Spybar. Nick’s hard work lead him to become a resident DJ for Godskitchen, Spundae and Pure, where he would be the opening act for DJ’s such as Bad Boy Bill, The Chemical Brothers, Deep Dish, Nick Warren, DJ Dan, Donald Glaude.
Nick was recently named by his childhood idol Bad Boy Bill as the Breakthrough DJ of 2008, and has traveled with him on many occasions to be his opening DJ.
Nick’s ability to smoothly mix different styles of House and Techno Music is what helps keep him in control of a crowd. His DJ sets also include a touch of Scratching and Turntablism to spice up his mix.
