    I'm running the music to die for website, where I'm posting up a number of well-researched and documented lists of favourite music : all time favourite tracks (http://musictodiefor.wordpress.com/my-top-100-songs-of-all-time), greatest protest songs (http://musictodiefor.wordpress.com/50-greatest-protest-songs), African songs (http://musictodiefor.wordpress.com/50-favourite-african-songs), alternative hip hop, and the pick of the current Liverpool bands.

  • Heroes

    My heroes are the union militants, whistleblowers, peace protestors ... people like Karen Silkwood who stood up for the rights of ordinary people against the power of the corporations (I'm also a fan of Meryl Streep, who played her in the film). Those people who refused to be cowed into submission by the McCarthyite witchhunt in the US in the 1940s, at great cost to their careers. The Civil Rights protestors whose courage helped change the face of America in the 1960s. Mohammed Ali, who threw his Olympic gold medal into a river after finding that he was still being treated as a 2nd class citizen. Everybody who's ever confronted and challenged racist remarks instead of walking away and saying nothing.

    Just wanted to let you know that we're headlining Liverpools O2 Academy this Wednesday (8th of July). It should be a boss gig. Please try and come along. Tickets are only £5.
