Nicky Powel, Born in Aberdeen Scotland may 4th 1981, Had a fun old time growing up....Then Joined the Marines in 1999. Served all over the world for just over 6 years and in 2004 i started writing songs and playing in a few bands. I finally finished with the Marines in September 2005, had an "interesting" time and I'll defo miss the laugh with the Lads!!! I Moved to Glasgow in 2006 and formed a band called "Hurricanebutterfly" in early 2007. The band never toured but had great success with there first E.P "Strange New Light". The band gigged around Scotland and had a great time, then we headed for the studio for a follow-up E-P, but in early 2008 the band became no more. being the songwriter for the band i have now taken on a new role as a solo artist, and will be delivering a new E.P shortly and will be aiming of gigging around summer time......Watch This Space....
Cracking gig on Friday at the Market !!! Nae such a cracking Saturday morning although the wife was working - I was not ! Phew - heed like a pun o tatties !!
See ye next time - may bide sober ish and bring the camera again !!
I spent Halloween in Paris.. cycling around Eiffel Tower,
dining in Dans Le Noir (in the dark; couldnt see a thing!), and got an
amazing painting from one artist, just cos i smiled... hahaha (good
times) How was yours?
But now Im back in Scotland, and im feeling very refreshed.. amazingly.. because once again.. my
weekend has been as heavy... partied on a boogie bus with
colleagues, and then ended up in my favourite place.. and met my old
friends - reggae Swedish guy (his blond dreadlocks are like 2metres
long now;) and a friend from a band... so we rocked it out! Saturday -
went to a fight in the Hilton, where my good friend fought as last, won
the audience over and the game, of course, and unfortunate for his
opponent who was knocked down so harsh, that he was unconscious for about 15 mins.. Surely the big celebration followed
;)

top cd mate, we had it on in the van on the way home! sorry we couldn't hang around longer, knowing we had a six+ hour drive back dampened the party spirit a little! you and your bands set was one of the best iv'e seen by anyone for ages, really enjoyed it, we'll dort something out for next year.
Not sure when we'll back back...soon I hope, we're all keen to go on tour again. I'll let you know as soon as something's sorted though, it'll be good to share a stage....and some beer...with you again!
Great to hear from you, and glad to hear you've sampled the delights of The Market Bar! It's a lovely town though, on the whole. I'm good, just got back from my travels (did you see the blog?!)
I see you've been supporting Turin Brakes, which is great. How's it been going?
