  • Books

I read everything I get my hands on. To date I've read over 4025 books. I like falling into someones else's universe. My true love is INDEPENDENTLY PUBLISHED ZINES and BOOKS/BOOKLETS: Fern, Neus Subjex, Infinite Onion, Slug and Lettuce, Heart Attack, East Village Inky, Future Generation, Dishwasher Zine, PE, MRR, Hip Mama, Hag Rag, Soy Not Oi, Write the Way Up, Cometbus, As Soon As You're Born They Make You Feel Small, The Last of The Hippies, Urban Arms, Counterculture, Hong Kong Kielbasa...much more. I've been interested in books about economics lately. Nickel and Dimed, Freakanomics, Free Lunch, Confessions of an Economic Hitman e.g. Right now? I'm working on the FoxFire series in order to learn more about rural living and self-sustenance. I also obsessively read "adventures in addiction/recovery books" like David Sheff's book Beautiful Boy. I also have a fixation with cults. After reading A Year of Living Biblically, I've been reading the bible. Gloria Steinam's Outrageous Acts and Everyday Rebellions is another recent one. I also read about 10 daily newspapers online, The Onion, and a number of blogs including Violet Blue, Margaret Cho, and Future Generation.

About me:

..Get MySpace Layouts from nUCLEArcENTURy.COM OR create your own using MySpace profile editor!!!
MySpace Layouts.. ^^^Gracias for visiting my/La Dama Zine's page. This year marks 11 years of independent publishing. ZINE FEATURES: Mostly parenting issues, promoting the DIY mentality, short stories, essays, artwork, political commentary and observations, photography, scene reports, and poetry alongside plenty of ranting and raving in both English y Espanol. I sometimes write a considerable amount about personal issues; in the past I've been accused of using my zine as one would a therapist...but we're working on that. I want to help girls and all children feel good enough about themselves to stand up and give everybody hell. I don't believe that once a victim, always a victim. I believe in SURVIVORS, vanquishers, vigilantes, and fighters, rebels and agitators and direct actionists! I guess I'm a loner by nature/nurture. I loath labels, stereotypes, cliques, elitists, and gossip; which is probably why I don't have many friends... I just want to be who I am with no polishing, no apologies, and no censors. I've been given this precious little slice of time to exist- a nearly inconsequential amount given the size of space and time- and I'm going to use it well. **NEW ISSUE OUT NOW!(an actual PRINT/PAPER edition!)** LA DAMA #9 ** CONTACT EMAIL: LADAMAZINE@YAHOO.COM or message me for mailing address. $3.oo USD postage paid or trade, but please contact me first! Gracias.

Who I'd like to meet:

I'm not here solely to promote my zine. I'm interested in connecting with people...parents, travelers, p-rockers, musicians and folks from different parts of the world. I'm in the middle of nowhere-ayudame! Paz. -Nic ** I ENCOURAGE YOU ALL TO CHECK OUT LA DAMA ZINES FRIEND'S PAGES. THERE ARE SOME RADICAL FOLKS OUT THERE WITH SOME TRULY AMAZING PROJECTS!**
