This space is so small...
As far as my music goes, I have mainly played sax my whole life, though I have filled in as necessary on trombone, bassoon, French horn, and I can even play a recorder flute with my nose. (which I've done in concert, much to my parents' dismay...)
I also play tabla (north Indian drums). See Zakir Hussein play like a FIEND here:
I also play capoeira and berimbau, which is the stringed instrument bow-thing used in capoeira.

I received my degree in Music Technology, which was focused on using technology in "non-standard" ways to create very experimental music. I've mostly used ProTools, Logic, Max/MSP, PureData, Peak, Ableton LIVE, and Kyma. We used data feeds and numbers and computer programming environments to make music. In a way, it's kind of like the Matrix. You can turn any numbers into anything you really want it to be.
For example, my senior project was making a composition using brainwaves from an alcoholic. I wanted to try and do it live with an EEG hooked up to my own head, but just couldn't bring the pieces together in time. Someday...
What attracted me to experimental music is that it gives complete freedom for exploring the concept of phrasing. How do you take a piece of music that has no words, very little rhythm, and have it "make sense" to the ears of someone who has never heard it?
Unfortunately, most of the music we composed in college had very little emphasis on rhythm. It was pretty much always a sidenote, which drove me a little crazy, coming from a jazz background... Especially since I love some kick ass drum and bass lines like Dieselboy.

I into ethnomusicology, as music from other cultures fascinates me to no end. Still, it's all about phrasing to me. We can listen to music from other cultures, and most of the time, it still makes sense to us. Even when we don't understand their spoken language.
I have familiarity with music of North & South India, Ghana, The Balkans (Bulgaria, Romania, Armenia, Greece, etc.), the Andes, Capoeira/Brazilian music, and the Native American nations of the Great Plains.
Other random stuff I like:
Soundgarden, QOTSA, Hendrix, Eagles of Death Metal (don't sound like "The Eagles" or death metal - just a lot of fun!), Death Cab for Cutie, Coltrane, Monk, Eric Dolphy, Mozart (where the hell did that come from?), Samuel Barber, The Doors, Cream, Dead Kennedys, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Bush, STP, Beck, Jack Johnson, Silverchair (old stuff, not so much the new artsy stuff), Carl Stone... can't even BEGIN to finish this list... I am a musician after all!
Man, pretty much anything that I can get my hands on that doesn't make me want to wretch.
