Åke Parmerud travaille à plein temps en musique et en art multimédia depuis la fin des années 1970. Après une formation en photographie (1972-74), il a étudié la musique à l’université et par la suite au conservatoire de Göteborg (Suède). Son œuvre comprend des compositions instrumentales et électroacoustiques, de l’art interactif et multimédia, de la vidéo et de la musique de film, de danse et de théâtre. Ses œuvres ont été primées 12 fois à Bourges, 3 fois aux Prix Ars Electronica (Autriche) et ont reçu une fois le Prix Noroît (France), le Prix Métamorphoses (Belgique) et le Stockholm Electronic Arts Award.
