BILLBOARD: Novecento, FAMILY AFFAIR Italian smooth-jazz quartet Novecento is picking up jazz airplay in the United States through a collaboration with virtuoso guitarist Stanley Jordan. Since its debut in 1984, the band has recorded a string of albums at its studio outside Milan, licensing them internationally through its own Nicolosi Productions label. Major jazz acts that have appeared on those sets include Billy Cobham. Jordan guested on the 2002 album "Novecento Featuring . . ." before collaborating on "Dreams of Peace," released in Italy in October 2003. The album appeared in the United States in August 2004, licensed to guitarist Steve Vai's Favored Nations Cool imprint. One track, "Easy Love" recently hit the No. 1 airplay spot at New York's WQCD-FM. Novecento’s album reached No. 45 on iTunes' U.S. jazz download chart. Ottobre 2006 NICOLOSI PRODUCTIONS UNA REALTA’ CONOSCIUTA IN TUTTO IL MONDO La piccola e prestigiosa etichetta, i cui studi si trovano a San Giuliano Milanese, può oggi affermare di essere distribuita in tutto il mondo: anche negli USA. Era il 1997 quando i fratelli Nicolosi (Novecento) decisero di dedicarsi alla produzione discografica. Forti della crescita musicale maturata ai vertici delle classifiche, svincolati dalle logiche della musica commerciale, cominciano a produrre artisti di fama internazionale nelle varie forme stilistiche più o meno collegate alla musica afro-americana e al Jazz. Iniziano con Billy Preston con un album dal titolo You and I. La formula vede il nucleo del gruppo sempre partecipe nella realizzazione dell’album. I Novecento sono presenti sia come musicisti sia come arrangiatori, compositori ed ovviamente produttori. Il 2001, è l’anno della vera svolta che avviene con Drum’n’voice del mitico batterista Billy Cobham, album tra i cui ospiti si trovano i fratelli Brecker ed Eddie Gomez. Nel 2002: molti dei musicisti che avevano accettato di unirsi al nome di Cobham e altri, con i quali avevano lavorato in precedenza, proseguono la collaborazione su nuovi progetti dei Nicolosi. Nuovi ospiti come Dave Liebman, Guy Barker, Wayne Dockery, John Tropea fanno capolino nelle nuove produzioni. La fine del 2002 segna un altro momento estremamente importante: esce infatti Novecento Featuring….. che conta ben 11 collaborazioni di carattere internazionale - il loro omaggio al nuovo corso della loro carriera. Dreams of Peace esce nel maggio del 2003 in Italia, a nome di Stanley Jordan featuring Novecento, mentre negli Usa esce a nome dei Novecento e raggiunge i vertici delle classifiche americane si posiziona anche al 1° posto di Radio CD 101,9 di New York. Nel gennaio 2005 esce Together as one a nome di Gregg Kofi Brown. Nel album da solista del leader della band ganese degli Osibisa troviamo - vicino a Gabrielle, Des’re, Airto Moreira, Dominique Miller - anche Sting che si è ritrovato Lullaby To An Anxious Child tra i brani più suonati. Arriviamo al 2006, a marzo esce Ronnie Jones con Again, che tra gli ospiti annovera Steve Lukather e Bill Evans a settembre la ultima fatica Drum’n’Voice vol. 2 di Billy Cobham in questi giorni nei negozi: l’elenco degli ospiti è ragguardevole: Brian Auger, Buddy Miles e Mike Lindup, Frank Gambale, Dominic Miller, Jeff Berlin, Guy Barker, John Patitucci, Airto Moreira, Jan Hammer.
