The mere mention of Ted Parsons (formerly a drummer in Swans, Prong and present drummer in Jesu) and production by Justin K. Broadrick would be enough of a selling point if the album in question (NIC’s Voldsløkka) was within the realm of experimental metal. In addition to Parsons and Broadrick, fellow NIC member Tony 'Spykidelic' Wilson released his Neo-Folk project Knives ov Resistance on the esteemed arty-metal/freaky-folk imprint Aurora Borealis in 2007. However, Voldsløkka shares much more in common with 70s Black Ark experiments, Bill Laswell’s Axiom works and Muslimgauze than it does Art-Metal or Gloomgaze.
To emphasise the past endeavours of individual NIC members does a great disservice to the other players involved. Based in Oslo, NIC (Necessary Intergalactic Cooperation) is made up of Norwegian's Matti Hansen (bass), Markus O. Klyve (keyboards/vocals), Andreas Mork (machines/dubbing) with the aforementioned Ted Parsons on sticks and Spykidelic on turntables; immigrants from New York and London respectively. The five composed the preliminary tracks for Voldsløkka from jams in Oslo, before sending those they were most pleased with to Broadrick to restructure. The results are diverse as they are revelatory, completely avoiding the obvious choice of diving head-first into the murky dark waters of Dubstep. Instead Peshawar comes on like a traditional Persian Qawwali versioned by Shackleton (or Muslimgauze); whilst Helvete Ser På Deg combines turntablism, hard-fusion and tech-step, pointing towards where jazz inspired drum & bass might have progressed if it were primarily influenced by Miles Davis' Get Up with It. Grimm og Gru is comparable to Broadrick's work in his Noise-Hop collaborative project Techno Animal, with Kevin Martin aka The Bug.
Dub permeates many of the tracks but resounds most clearly on Sov God and Syltetøy, whose reverberations literally echo the innovations of classic masters like Perry, Ruddock and Sherwood.

Recorded in his own studio based in Rome, after 3 years of hard work and changes, Crazy Glue contains different musical experiences that the artist experimented reaching an original sound after the past releases on labels such Subculture and Urban pressure.
The E.P. is a set of tunes that ranging from jumpup to neurofunk. Much attention is given in the sound and rhythmic arrangements and it is into melodic tracks such as “bad”, “when I go” and “stop” that this collage get maximum pressure into dance floors.
You can for sure find some inspiration from this funny, yet serious, sticky, tricky album, Where we blending past and future into carzy present.

Review: "Don Goliath's "Bagstep EP" (DDR030) is one of those innovative EPs showcasing how versatile Dubstep can get. The unique idea of creating Dubstep versions of celctic (Irish as well as Scottish) folk classics for all you drunkards longing to sing along was Don Goliath's motto when producing this madness. The concept is as simple as effective: he picked 4 of your grandpa's favourites such as "Old Skibbereen", "Scotland the Brave", "Drunken Sailor" and "Amazing Grace" having the melody played by a definitly non-sober Bagpipe section and then layering it with lofi mid range wobbleism - we therefor call it Bagstep. Overall production quality is high grade with that intense sub focus so you can blow-dry your hair right in front of the bass bins. Now let's get into the tunes: "Skibbereen Bagstep" is one of the melancolic minor tunes expressing Irish history as it is. It is an unmixable 3/4 waltz beat at unusual 154bpm, well dancebal though when one moves to the triplets. "Bagstep the brave" should be one of the sickest rebuilds of the Scottish national anthem making it Mel Gibson's signature tune if he had one. "Drunken Bagstep" is a Glitchfest version of the sailors anthem capable of getting you uberdrunk by listening alone, Arrrr! "Amazing Bagstep" is as religious as it gets making it a tune that'll certainly safe xamounts of lost souls. Enjoying the dancefloor got even easier now: drink out the bar, make your skirt fly and sing along to these (future) classics! Some will hate this release and some will love it, there barely is anything in between. All Dubstep Division crew salutes the latter as our fellow beerheadz! cheeeeeerz!"
