If you were wondering what was on the other side of the Mississippi River one could arguably say “Nic Paper”. Nic Garner is breaking into the music industry with style, charisma, and charm. As 21 year old up and coming rap artist he is determined to put East Saint Louis on the map.
This young artist exemplifies what it means to be a full blood “gangster and a gentleman”. While having his way with the ladies he credibly represents his struggle growing up in one of the most crime stricken areas of the mid west. He first realized his talents at the tender age of fourteen after watching the trials and tribulations of his older brother while simultaneously trying to avoid the mishaps of the odds that were against him. “Nic Paper” found his sanity in expressing himself lyrically.
At the age of seventeen “Nic Paper” suffered a tragic injury that almost resulted in death. While attending a local hotel party a fight broke out and would soon become a life changing experience for this young rebel. He received 32 stitches on the perimeter of his head in result of being sliced with a fixed blade pocket knife. However, once Nic turned eighteen he began to change the direction of his life and work towards a more prominent future.
“Nic Paper” is currently signed to Chartcontrol Production Company. Chartcontriol is an Atlanta based production company responsible for hits such as “Money in the Bank” by Lil’ Scrappy and Young Buck under the Chief Executive Officer Isaac “Ike Dirty” Hayes III. During his search to find a record label that he can call home he unceasingly grinds to master and perfect his craft.
“My musical inspirations are TIP, Jay Z, Gucci Mane and Nas, they go hard and from what I know their music is real. When the world thinks of me I want them to think genuine music and get a feel for who I really am, plus my hood has never been represented properly.”
If you were assuming that East Saint Louis was the same city that Nelly and Chingy were from then you thought wrong. The Mississippi river divides the actual state of Illinois and separates the city into virtually two different worlds ‘Saint Louis and East Saint Louis’.
“The difference is we have opposite styles and we actually don’t do the same types of things, the environment is different, the way of life is different, we are just different.”
This rising star is on his way to fame as he breaks his way into the music industry. No matter what side of the river he reps his flow is still “what the games been missing”.
