Nigel McTrustry’s unique, soulful voice draws the listener into his world of warm transcendent folk/rock 'n' blues. His home made 3 string Cigar Box guitar is incredibly infectious and combined with percussionist Caroline Hammond's rhythms a good time is guarenteed! With the kind of wild, raw integrity that echoes retro influences from the great singer songwriters of the 60s and 70s he is unafraid to connect with his audience. Crafted songs sit beside some real foot stompers.
His lyrics are a blend of personal observation, experience, imagery and symbolism, which permeate on many levels, and whether he plays with a band or solo there is a power driving the songs.
Originally from Wollongong, a coastal city one hour south of Sydney, Nigel developed as a musician playing with his band at parties, in garages, lounge rooms, halls and pubs and becoming an important influence in the developing Wollongong music-scene. Twelve years of travelling the world with his backpack and guitar followed, where Nigel emersed himself into various cultures and environments.
Recorded in Brisbane, Australia, the debut EP ‘Excursions’ captures Nigel’s distinctive sound and is out now.
