Nigel Wearne: electric, Weissenborn, acoustic guitars, Dobro, harmonica and lead vocals.
Mark Sibson: drums/percussion.
Influences
In no particular order: Tom Waits, Gillian Welch and David Rawlings, Kelly Joe Phelps, The Black Keys, Matt Walker and Ashley Davies, The Pogues, Nick Drake, Bob Dylan, Damien Rice, Ryan Adams, Nick Cave, Tex Perkins, Don Walker, Charlie Owen, Townes Van Zandt, The Band, Radiohead, Sigur Ros, Ben Harper, Jeff Lang, Darren Hanlon, Neil Young, Chris Whitley, Chris Wilson, Harry Manx, U2, Sufjan Stevens, Steve Earle, The Doors, Pearl Jam, B.B. King, John Lee Hooker, Django Reinhardt, Rickie Lee Jones, Led Zeppelin, Hendrix, Miles Davis, James Brown, Michael Franti and Spearhead, Johnny Cash, Woody Guthrie, John McCutcheon, Jerry Douglas, Richard Thompson, Skunkhour, Lucinda Williams, Pink Floyd, Jimmy Smith, Paul Kelly, Gomez, Dave Matthews Band, Fleet Foxes, Rolling Stones, M-Ward, Beth Orton, Bon Iver, Rachmanninof, Ricki Lee Jones, John Butler Trio, You am I, Something for Kate, Cold Chisel, AC/DC, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Jack Johnson etc. I have an expensive obsession with music, meaning that much of my money is spent of many and varied CD's/LP's. Sometimes my songs crawl out from under the bed, slide out of the cracks in the floor, rise as steam out of the sink and fall down between the rain drops.
Such songs as 'Take it with me', Tom Waits, 'River man' by Nick Drake, 'Rainy night in Soho' by Shane MacGowan (The Pogues), 'Running to stand still' (U2) and 'Hallelujah' (L.Cohen, covered by Jeff Buckley) have blown me away by their imagery, metaphor and depth. There are others like 'When the music's over' (The Doors), 'Black' (Pearl Jam), 'Tommy' (Kelly Joe Phelps), 'Viðrar vel til loftárása'(Sigur Ros), 'Shelter from the storm'/'Changing of the guard'/Desolation row' etc (Bob Dylan) and a cover of Mance Lipscomb's 'Rocks and gravel' (Matt Walker and Ashley Davies). All these songs have taken me somewhere better. It doesn't matter if it's melancholy, music just keeps me ticking and is the just about the only thing that makes me cry and sends shivers down my spine.
Sounds Like
Some of it's folk/rock, some of it's alternative country/blues, some of it's pyschedelic roots. A loose mixture between Kelly Joe Phelps, Damien Rice and Ryan Adams with some Neil Youngs rock sentiments.
If you really want to genre-lise it, check it out....
