Night Conquers Day formed in August 1995 after the demise of Buried Beneath (1992-1995). Night Conquers Day was in essence Rochester's FIRST black metal band. NCD was originally a trio consisting of Mikael (drums, guitars, keyboards, vocals), Tim (bass) & Greg H. (guitars). A rehearsal Demo was recorded in October 1995 with us three. In late 1996 we added keyboardist Raistlyn to the band. In 1997 during the recording of the debut CD Greg H. disappeared, as did Raistlyn, so Mikael and Tim completed "The First Snowfall" themselves. It was released in 1998 on Hammerheart Records with a beautiful coverart gatefold by Kris Verwimp (also the logo artist). Then 2 new members joined the ranks in 1998: Gregg on Drums and Justin on Guitar. Rounded out by Mikael on Vocals & Guitar and Tim on bass, plus session live keyboard player John (nowadays in Orodruin/Crucifist). We played shows and recorded our 2nd CD "Rebellion Is The Art Of Survival" which was released in 1999 on Hammerheart Records. This album also features a beautiful coverart by Kris Verwimp, based on the visions of Mikael. We wrote an entire 3rd album, tentative title "Evil From Us Deliver", but before we could record anything our bassist Tim quit in 1999, and our record label fucked us over leaving us broke, without a rehearsal place and with one founding member gone. We did find a replacement bassist in 2000, but he turned out to be an asshole that sold off Gregg's drumset and my guitar Amp for crack money. In 2001 Night Conquers Day split up. Gregg has vanished, perhaps taken by thrash aliens. Justin is alive and well, still worshipping Opeth. Tim is getting divorced and still writing some good material. Mikael is active with TEARSTAINED since NCD split. It is possible that Tim may resurrect Night Conquers Day with Justin in 2009. They wanted me to take part, and at first I was very interested. But then I just blew the whole thing off. I don't know, just don't feel like revisiting NCD I guess. And I am busy with Tearstained, work, and trying to stay alive.
