NJ was formed by poet Rich Ferguson and musical mayhemist Paul Junior Garrison with the intention to radically combine spoken word and music. Nightlight Jesus' MO is to juxtapose the personal with the eternal, the sacred with the profane, the sensitive with the abrasive.
The duo first met during the recording of Rich's CD 'This Is Where I Come From'. The first gig they played together was at Los Angeles' Disney Hall's Redcat Theater.
After experimenting with different approaches, they struck upon their final concept/ incarnation. They combine the analog sound sources of vocals, spoken and sung, and heavily altered guitar electronics with the digital domain of computer based sound sources.
