About me:

Robert Englund did NOT turn down the chance to be in the remake. He has said that he would have liked to be apart of it but was never asked. Then the producers [Platinum Dunes] lied about Robert not wanting to play Freddy in THIS INTERVIEW.

This is a quote from the webmaster at robertenglund.com "webmonster Rhet":
"We all love Rob. Please understand he didn't 'Turn Down' the role. He wasn't offered it. The movie was being remade with a whole new vision, writers, directors, etc. I know this because I was in the running 2yrs. ago to write Nightmare 9, when the writers strike hit & Michael Bay got solo control of the Nightmare franchise. Rob would have loved to play Freddy again.....but it just didn't happen"

Director Samuel Bayer was hired AFTER Platinum Dunes announced Robert Englund wasn't playing Freddy. This brings up the question, how much say did Samuel Bayer actually have with the casting of this movie? Directors usually make their decisions based on creativity. Producers make their decisions based on money. This makes Samuel Bayer looks like a pawn in Platinum Dunes game of making money.

Wes Craven says about the remake: "I don't even know who's doing it and I'm not interested. It's actually really painful to think about it. It's the film of mine that I probably love the most". See the blog section for more.

"A Nightmare On Elm Street" is one of the greatest movies ever made. It's out of love for this movie that this protest against the remake exists. Just know that buying a ticket to this movie rewards Platinum Dunes for their greed and dishonesty. Platinum Dunes can only communicate through the language of money. The goal of this protest is to keep as much money away from them. Someday I will probably see this movie, but I refuse to pay for it. If you really want to see the remake, I encourage you to find an alternative way of seeing it.
