Sounds Like
welsh rare bit................................................................
................ Ingredients...................
25g/1oz butter
25g/1oz flour
150ml/5fl oz milk
175g/6oz cheddar cheese, grated
150ml/5fl oz brown ale
1 tsp English mustard
2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
salt and pepper
2 egg yolks
4 slices of toast
.............Method...................
1. Make a roux with the butter and flour, and leave to cool.
2. Bring the milk to the boil, then whisk it into the roux. Bring to the boil once again, whisking to ensure that it does not burn and also that the sauce is free of lumps.
3. Add the cheese, beat in and remove from the heat.
4. Reduce the ale, English mustard and Worcestershire sauce. When thick, add this mixture to the cheese sauce. Season well with salt and pepper and beat in the egg yolks.
5. Spoon on to the slices of toast and grill until bubbling. Serve with extra Worcestershire sauce handed separately.
Night portraits formed in late 2007 as Ladybridge. After recording our first demo (Otters Of Beirut) we decided to change the name to night portraits. After many awful song ideas and odd band practices we are still finding a genre and style of music that we feel totally comfortable with. In late 2008 we began to get more gigs and got our first radio play and positive reviews.

More like something violently ripped from the footnotes of the early 80s alternative rock underground. The clench-teethed sincerity of it all, added to the meaty metallic riffage, wins us over every time"

Night Portraits follow, changing the mood from sophisticated whimsy to intense noise-making. If you close your eyes, it’s hard to believe that there are only two guitars being played. They make heavy use of feedback and guitar effects to sound like much more than a three-piece. …And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead are obviously an influence, along with The Fall.

It is often hard to make a 3 piece work with the depth and structure of slightly larger bands, with the lack of a second guitarist often making a huge difference, but Night Portraits have found a way to make it work. Containing a mix of lead guitar over a hard hitting bass riff with a steady drum beat to keep it all together, Night Portraits have created their own sound which sounds fresh and full of life.
