I Nightward nascono nel 1997 da un’idea del chitarrista Alessandro Battioli, interessato a formare una band di stampo

prettamente melodico ispirata allo stile

compositivo di matrice svedese, molto in voga in quegli anni grazie a band quali At The Gates, Dark Tranquillity, In Flames,

e Carcass.
Nel maggio del 1998 fanno il loro debutto sulla scena musicale con un demo-tape di tre pezzi, “Beyond the Golden Gates”, un

mix di melodie dirette e armonie

aggressivamente coinvolgenti. Questo primo lavoro riceve eccellenti recensioni su più fronti, consentendo alla band di

guadagnarsi anche il titolo di “Top Demo”

sulla rivista Grind Zone.
Con il passare del tempo, grazie all’esperienza fatta sui palchi di molti locali italiani, le composizioni si evolvono

attraverso un sound che si fa sempre più

incisivo, in cui serpeggia anche una mai troppo sopita urgenza di sperimentazione. E’ così che tra il 2002 e il 2003 prende

forma il miniCD “Face the Fall“, con

una line-up rinnovata per 3/5: Alessandro Battioli (chitarra), Simone Ceron (basso) e Giacomo Fusetti (chitarra), Davide

Ricciuti (voce), Francesco Fabris

(batteria) ne sono gli orgogliosi artefici. Questo album viene pubblicato con il supporto di Camelo Olando, voce e mente dei

Novembre, che partecipa come guest

singer in un brano.
Grazie a questo ottimo prodotto il nome Nightward è ora presente su molte riviste musicali e web’zines italiane ed europee,

e il quintetto, dal maggio 2002,

ricomincia una profittevole attività live nei dintorni di Milano. Il nuovo devastante personaggio dietro le pelli è il

giovane Paolo Premazzi (Daytime

Television), con cui addirittura partecipano a due edizioni consecutive del Perpetual Moonshine Festival al Rolling Stone di

Milano.
Dopo un periodo di riflessione riguardo la direzione da intraprendere, I Nightward trovano nel 2006/2007 una rinnovata

stabilità nei nuovi elementi Matt Rendina

(batteria – dalla band Horrid), Andrea Malnati (tastiere, campioni ed ogni genere di “sintesi rumoristica”) e Alessandro

Maffezzoni (voci). Nuovi stimoli

giungono anche dall’ottimo lavoro dell’agenzia Alkemist Fanatix, che frutta ben presto un contratto con la Risingworks

Records di Frank Andiver (ex Labyrinth).

Tutti gli input provenienti dall’uso di parti campionate e di registrazione in digitale durante la stesura dei nuovi pezzi,

nonché le inaspettate potenzialità

di parti vocali più pulite ed ariose – ed i loro contrasti con quelle più scream/hardcore -, permettono poi alla band di

lavorare in modo completamente diverso

dal passato. La direzione intrapresa è ben più ragionata, diretta, e consapevole della particolare e movimentata era

musicale che si ritrova a interpretare, pur

sempre mantenendo l’impronta melodica tipica della band. L’impressione è quella di ascoltare qualcosa di nuovo,
lontano dai rigidi schemi della musica metal, nonostante qualcosa di simile a livello di influenze si possa ritrovare in

band quali Mnemic, Raunchy, Atreyu,

Killswitch Engage.
Tutto ciò si riscopre nel nuovo full-lenght album “Adrenaline 12”, dieci nuove canzoni con cui i Nightward del 2008 si

apprestano a gettarsi nel mercato della

musica internazionale.

Nightward were born in 1997 out of an idea by guitarist Alessandro Battioli who wanted to set up a melodic metal band

inspired by the Swedish style in vogue

during those years – a style led by bands like At The Gates, Dark Tranquillity, In Flames and Carcass.
In May 1998 they made their debut on the scene with a three song demo-tape: "Beyond the Golden Gates", a mix of melodic and

aggressively absorbing harmonies.

This debut work received excellent reviews on all fronts and was named "top demo" by the well respected Italian magazine

Grind Zone.
With time, new compositions evolved exposing a more incisive sound that showed a forceful urge to experimentation, prompted

by their experiences playing clubs

all around Italy. During 2002 - 2003, the miniCD "Face The Fall" took shape with the help of a renewed line-up: Alessandro

Battioli
(guitar), Simone Ceron (bass) and Giacomo Fusetti (guitar), Davide Ricciuti (voice) and Francesco Fabris (drums) are the

proud creators of this album. The CD

was released and Carmelo Orlando, mastermind and vocalist of the band Novembre, was a guest singer on the song "Blick In Den

Traum".
The CD successfully spotlighted the band and the name Nightward appeared on many Italian and European magazines and

webzines. To follow up on this popularity,

the band started another punishing schedule of live gigs in the Milan area in May 2002. They played two consecutive editions

of the Perpetual Moonshine Festival

at the Rolling Stone club in Milan, where they were joined by the drummer Paolo Premazzi (Daytime Television).

After a long period of deliberation over their musical direction, Nightward found a certain stability during 2006/2007 with

an additional line-up of Matt

Rendina on drums (from the band Horrid), Andrea Malnati (keyboards and synthetic) and Alessandro Maffezzoni (screams and

clean voice). They also got fresh

inspiration from working with the excellent Alkemist Fanatix agency, who quickly got them a contract with Frank Andiver's

Risingworks Records (former member of

Labyrinth). New artistic input came from using electronic parts and digital recording during the composition stages of the

new tracks. The unexpected vocal

opportunities of cleaner and more melodic lines – in contrast to the scream/hardcore ones - allowed the band to work in a

completely different way compared to

the previous years. The band's new path is more reasoned, direct and conscious of the unique and hectic musical period that

it tries to interpret, although the

band's typical melodic mark still remains.

It's something new, far removed from rigid metal patterns even if something similar can be found listening to bands like

Mnemic, Raunchy, Atreyu, Killswitch

Engage.

The new full-length album "Adrenaline 12" contains ten new songs that will help Nightward find their path through the

international music scene.
