I likes da funky stuff...Prince...older Michael Jackson (my first concert was the Jackson's Victory tour wasaaaaay back in 1984. God, I'm old)...George Clinton...BOOTSY!!...some 'chick' music (but I find most of it too "crunchy-granola" and annoying,honestly, and if I listen to it too much I get verrrrry cranky))...rap before it got all stupid and annoying (does anyone remember Public Enemy? Anyone at all? I also like 'heavier' stuff like Disturbed quite a bit.
I've been coming to terms with my inner Durannie, they're awesome. And, unlike Prince (the fucker) they actually LIKE THEIR FANS. What a concept! Seriously...over the last few years Prince has been pissing me off on a fairly regular basis, to the point where I really can't be too bothered with him unless it's his older stuff *shrug*
Movies
..I'm liking a lot of the comic book-based stuff that's been coming out. They're finally starting to get it right! X-Men 1, 2 and 3, Daredevil/Elektra (yes, I actually liked those *lol*), Spiderman 1, 2 and 3 (tho 3 was not as good as the other 2). I also like other kinds of movies, like 10 Things I Hate About You (Heath ledger, RIP), King Arthur, A Knight's Tale f-ing rocks, Excalibur (so cheezy yet sooo cool), Kill Bill (both parts), Kevin Smith films, Free Enterprise, Josie and the Pussycats (shut it
) Transformers was fucking awesome too.
Television
Back in the day, I used to watch whatever was on TechTV (the Screensavers pwn all). I don;t really have TV at the moment, but I have season 1 of Heroes, and I just got done with season 2 of Smallville. I used to watch MTV a lot, but now that all the videos are about "booty, hoes, and bling" and the emo-band dujour, it does not really thrill me much. Having said that...I do like Nelly, and I think Fall Out Boy is actually kinda swell, so whatever I guess *shrug*Books
I've been getting into the 'Ultimate' books that Marvel's been doing, esp. Ultimate X-Men and The Ultimates. Ultimate Spiderman and Ultimate Fantastic Four have been growing on me too. Those books are GREAT for someone who has been away from comic-dom for a while. I tried getting back into the 'regular' X-titles and I was lost O_o I recommend the comic Tron, by Slave Labor Graphics, and it's really quite good. A little slow-paced in some respects (Issue 1 had not a disc battle or light cycle anywhere to be seen) but it has a good story and I'm looking forward to more issues. One book that I have been reccomending to people who are not fans of comics in general is called Fables, published by DC's Vertigo imprint.
