Niki Hellenbroich was born on the 14th of january in Karlsruhe/southern germany. In 1986 he found (together with his songwritercompanion Uwe Menzel (keyboard) the band THE FORMULA: Their fans were getting bigger so they decided to release theit first Maxi-LP, which was named "SIX SEXY SOUR SOULS". After selling that product out in just 2 monthes, it was followed by the Longplay "SIGNALS" in 1989. Also a independent label sensation: the longplay and the cd of Signals was sold more than 5000 pieces. Concerts in germany and Italy did follow. In 1991 Niki did release his 1st soloproject - like a rainbow - picturemusic to a film called BRIEFE. 1992 the new and second formation of THE FORMULA put "BLUE" on market. 1993 they decided to stop the formula train to make up mind.
After writing the never performed rockopera "OXYGENIA", Niki began to run dipsomaniac, to drink. 2001 he released with his MOON ORCHESTRA the maxicd "bible in his hand". production was kept in the hands of MICK ROGERS from MANFRED MANNS EARTH BAND. the production and the titlesong was a farewell to his friend and companion UWE MENZEL, who died by accident 1999. Niki now was writing a lot of songs still privately. His abuse of alcohol was growing bigger and bigger. In 2008 he went to hospital, section P40, to begin alcohol withdrawal. IHE FORMULA (siehe: myspace.com/formula.germany) gründete sich 1987 im Landkreis Karlsruhe mit den Masterminds Niki Hellenbroich Gesang/Gitarre und Uwe Menzel an den Keys. 1988 erscheint die erste MaxiLP "six sexy sour souls", die sich schnell ausverkauft. Die Band. mit dem hervorragenden Gitarristen Steffen Eingrüber, dem Bassisten Axel Falk, Drummer Rainer Hötzel sowie Frontfrau Martina Bechtold (Flute), zieht die LP "Signals" nach. Im Jahre 1989 kommt sie auf den Markt und wird zu einem Topseller. THE FORMULA werden dann in diesem Jahr auch für DAS Fest in Karlsruhe verpflichtet. "Signals" erscheint 1990 mit zusätzlichen Songs auf CD und verkauft sich großartig. Konzerte in ganz Deutschland folgen. Auch Italien zeigt Interesse, und somit folgen sehr erfolgreiche Gigs im Nachbarland. 1991 bringt Niki Hellenbroich seine erste Soloscheibe, eine MaxiCd mit Filmmusik, auf den Markt.
1992 verändert die Band ihr Gesicht und bringt mit Frieder von Amon (git), Ralf Mertzlufft (bass) und Michael Wien (dr) ihre CD "blue" auf den Markt. Der Verkauf steht gegenüber dem Vorgänger leicht zurück. Die Live-Erfolge der Band gehen allerdings weiter. 1993 geht die Band auseinander. Hellenbroich schreibt seine Rockoper "Oxygenia", die allerdings aufgrund ihrer politischen Aussage, nicht zur Aufführung gelangt. Hellenbroich verfällt dem Alkohol. 1999 stirbt Nikis Freund und Songwriterkollege Uwe Menzel bei einem ungeklärten Unfall. Daraufhin bringt Hellenbroich, in memoriam, mit seinem neuformierten "Moon Orchestra" die MaxiCd "bible in his hand" heraus. Die Cd wird produziert von Mick Rogers, dem Gitarristen und Sänger von Mannfred Manns Earthband.
Das Moon Orchestra spielt als Vorband auf deren Tour und erhält gute Kritiken. Im Jahre 2004 löst Hellenbroich diese Band auf. Er schreibt viele Songs, hat aber keine Veröffentlichungen bzw. Konzerte mehr. 2009 geht er erfolgreich in den Entzug, gründet einen Veranstaltunsclib, und arbeitet an einem Comeback. Er will im Juni 2010 seine neue Produktion vorstellen. Die Musik und sein Grillkulturverein Keule08 (www.keule08.de) sind von nun an sein Herzblut. Warten wir weiteres ab......
