Thank you for stopping by my MySpace page. I hope that this page will become a valuable portal for me to share important information with you, but to also let you learn more about me and my candidacy for Congress.
I have been fortunate to have the opportunity to see the world from many different perspectives. Growing up in a military family, I lived in California, Texas, Germany and went to an American high school in Japan while my Dad was stationed at Fuchu Air Force Base. After high school, I returned stateside and spent one year at Michigan State before attending Smith College in Northampton, MA.
During the summer between my junior and senior year of college, I lived and interned in Washington, D.C. It was here that I met my husband, Paul. He and I shared a vision and passion for public service that became an integral part of our lives. In 1969, Paul and I married and settled in Lowell, MA. It is truly the only hometown that I have ever known. While in Lowell, Paul began a career in the Council Chambers of City Hall that led to the halls of the U.S. Capitol Building as Congressman and U.S. Senator. Lowell was not only the city where we built our careers, it is also where Paul and I began our family and raised our three daughters.
Paul was a man who always thought that life could be better, and that is why he ran for President in 1991. For him, as well as our family, it was not about becoming President, but about spreading a message to America. Where else but in “the land of the free” can a first generation American run for President, and truly make a difference?
For the past 10 years I have been working as a dean at Middlesex Community College, the Commonwealth’s largest community college. I have served on the board of a small health plan in Massachusetts, as well as several other boards and civic organizations. I have seen my daughters follow the call to public service, and I am extremely proud of their accomplishments and convictions.
I’m running for Congress to continue to build the legacy that Paul and I created together, and I ask for your support. I look forward to the opportunity to meet you in your community and hear about your concerns and priorities as I travel across the Fifth Congressional District of Massachusetts.
