nikki hates bios...
succumbing to the music world at the early age of five, nikki's first performance started at a gymnasium in south georgia where she sang for her kindergarten graduation...having a talented mother who sang and taught guitar lessons during her youth, it was inevitable that nikki would be watching her mother's hands across the fretboard and soon be playing guitar herself...
1995-1997 she went to school for music for about a year and then realized that school was interfering with her music career! so she hit the pavement and found herself at 19 in key west florida singing on the streets for money every night at key west's famous sunset celebration among other bar gigs...
1998-1999 after the key west stint she came back up to the mountains of north carolina where she had a few projects...nikki talley & the hobarts (adon & justin) & much later FLAKE...
1999-2001 a few years in the mountains, nikki decided to head out to the beach of NC in wilmington...there, she was able to be SOLELY a musician for income! lots of bar gigs, festivals, & band shows made it possible...
2001-2004 burnt out from the pulse of wilmington, she moved back to asheville where she focused on her music again playing bele chere, forming a rock band, getting on the radio (88.7) and even participating in a local professional theatre production of Hedwig and the Angry Inch where she played the beloved androgynous character Yitzak...
2004-2007 relocating to toronto canada she found herself playing little coffee houses and clubs in toronto's big scene...struggling to make a name for herself in the cold city of toronto, she bought a 16 track digital recorder and decided to document her life..."TELLING LIES" is a full length album that nikki wrote, recorded, mixed, performed, pined over, and finally birthed this year...
now at 29, she plays guitar (electric and acoustic), piano, fiddle, a wee little banjo, and dabbles with the bass and other instruments when recording...she lives in the mountains of north carolina where she plays music and travels all over the east coast supporting her new cd....
Nurse your July 4th hangover with a heapin' helpin' of comedy. We have another show chock full of the funny this Saturday. We'll see the Amazing Insulto make people disappear. We'll feature our political candidates Munson and Doyle in a live debate. We'll meet a man who has an unnatural fear of pornography. We'll view the commencement ceremony at Home School University. We'll have the most fun possible with stuffed animals. For music we'll have the Flaming Pokey Bottom Boys singing us some Gaygrass. The funny continues and YOU gotta be there.
doin well, I think... going to New England for ten days tomorrow morning, should be fun. Lots of family and friends to visit, and fun to be had... How are the plans coming along? ; ) (I thought the same thing about that photo, too!!)
Thanks for the note... The envelope, paper, and your penmanship were all so beautiful. It was a nice surprise... Let me know if you girls pick Raleigh to rendezvous, and I will offer to host! I hope all the planning and your new album go well... Miss you. ;)

I'm SO sorry I wasn't able to come to your BBQ- LMNOPQS.... On Monday. I still think you are wonderful....and still want to go to the fiddlers thing....how much does it cost to get in?
You know, he can play the HELL outta that git-fiddle!! As my grandma always says, it's not the size of the guitar that matters, it's how you pluck the strings! :o) Hope to see y'all soon!
Love your samples! Your bio is a trip, didn't know you were a South Georgia girl but I should've figured by your attitude. I'd love to do a show with you some time, keep me posted.
