Nikos Giousef

Bio:

Nikos Usef was born in 1975 on Zakynthos. At the age of 6 he started studying music in the music school of mandolins on Zakynthos and for three years continued lessons on the guitar. Also, he attended theoretical lessons on music. However, at 10 his love for playing the bass guitar made him and his friend M.Mouzakis run a children’s rock band “Shock” for 8 years. The following years he played bass guitar in bands such as “Diahisis”, “NESLA” and in various jazz bands. In 1996 he started studying cello. In 2000 he and M.Mouzakis founded the art group “Tsiritsantsoules” (website www.tsritsantsoules.gr ). He wrote the music for the fiction short film “He shouldn’t have come to Athens” in which he cooperated with T.Mousa. At the same time he also participated in the collection of Ethnic Sounds of the ANKH productions with the instrumental piece of “New Cairo” . He continued writing music for plays and simultaneously he was making theatrical productions with the Tsiritsantsoules. In 2003 for a project he created , with the assistance of K.Valatsos, a unique bass musical saw which he has been studying till now. In 2005 not only he composed the music but also played in “VARIETE” (a Tsirtsantsoules theatrical production). He also wrote the song “Icha Skopo” (I have an intention) for Kalliopi Vetta’s record “Proi tis Kiriakis” (Sunday morning). In 2006 he played musical saw (singing saw) in Tilemachos Mousas Quartet at Sani internatinol Festival (3 days dedicated to ECM label). He also played bass Guitar in a TV show with Zucchero. In 2007 he recorded for “Nea Mera” , an album that belongs to Ypogeia Reymata group (musical saw in Stagona) and he is still participating with them. He also plays with “Neon” (poeta negra records) and T.Mousas Quartet. He continues composing and instrumentating until now. ..
