Nikotrio comprises Daniel Kartmann on drums, Joel Locher on Contrabass (natives of Stuttgart) and pianist Nicolas Schulze from Potsdam.
The trio formed in 2006 and have established themselves in the meantime as the real deal on the jazz scene in Stuttgart and Baden-Württemberg.
Nikotrio have worked together with well-known German Musicians like Ekkehard Rössle (Walter Lang’s Romance), organist and winner of the ARD Music competition Martin Kaleschke or the Pulver Records artists from Dublex Inc.
The language of jazz is what it’s all about for Nikotrio.
This means more to the 3 young musicians than concentrating on a specific style.
Jazz, as the musicians of Nikotrio see it, is overcoming musical conformities in the form of improvisation.
The boundaries between simple and complex tones like consonance und dissonance should flow. You will experience, if not „Free“ jazz, then at least music without reservations.
