NINA DON BIOGRAPHY:
NINA DON was born in Seöul, the capital of Korea. She was abandoned and left in a little basket as a three week young infant outside the central police station in Seoul with a note inside the basket saying "Please take good care of this little girl".
She was placed in a Childrens hospital through arrangement of Seöuls police. An adoption agency selected Nina for an overseas adoption placement and placed her with a foster family.
When she turned seven months old she was adopted by her Swedish parents. Her new family was very musical with a father who was a conductor and a cantor, and a mother who was a church vocalist.
At the age of 11 Nina won first prize in a big song contest. That lead her to join a singing group and was given the oppurtunity to tour. There she developed her stage performance skills and increased her singing repertoir.
In her early teens she sang in various soul groups and choirs. She recorded and released her first single, featuring three songs that she had written herself. She recieved a lot of positive attention, and made various local tv- and radio appearances.
In addition to this she made her first music video, which was directed by Urban Ström (Mary J. Blige, Meja, Titiyo)
Nina started to work professionally and began performing with a musical entertainment company, doing three to four appearences a week at different venues. She could now make a living of her singing.
Nina grew up listening to soul music and gospel. Having said that, Nina's music is best described as contemporary pop / soul / R&B /dance with occational sprinkles of jazz and classical influenced melodies.
Nina 1st album Starshine Baby is pop, acid jazz and dance inspired.
Her 2nd album A Whole New Feeling is pop and acid jazz influenced.
Since a few years back Nina now lives in NYC.
She is currently working on her album in NYC, LA, London and Stockholm. It's very much a melody and song driven album with infusions of pop, classical, jazz and soul influences.
