We're influenced by everything we hear. The good, and the bad...but especially the honest.
A few of our Heros include: Bob Marley, Paul Simon, Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Townes Van Zandt, The White Stripes, Tom Waits, Gillian Welch, Ryan Adams/Whiskeytown, Ernest Ranglin, Toots & The Maytals, Otis Redding - but that isn't even the tip of the iceburg.

Nine Mile's new album reflects the evolution of a band the is about to
make it's mark on the world. - Kamloops Daily News
Nine Mile has evolved consistently for the past eight years, from acclaimed duo to 7-piece band. The root of all of its formations is Nine Mile frontman, and songwriter D’Ari Pouyat – the glue holding Nine Mile to task. In 2004, the Nine Mile Duo comprised of D’Ari and long-time collaborator, percussionist/drummer Dave Tolley began to tour internationally, honing their sound and releasing two albums, “Close to Touch” and “The Almanac EP.” In 2007, after one of many international tours, the duo took a break. While still making Nine Mile cameos, Dave became the fulltime drummer for Xavier Rudd -longstanding friend to both band mates. Meanwhile, D’Ari stopped to re-group, moved from downtown Toronto to a secluded farm house in Prince Edward County and wrote the next album.
Set for release in September, “Country Porno Electric Fireplace,” is a gripping 180° turn from all that Nine Mile has created in the past. Backed by gritty country, anthemic rock, with inflections of soul and a reggae sensibility - it was created by the sum of it’s parts, featuring cameo’s by Australian phenom Xavier Rudd, Canadian soul crooner Matt York, and pedal steele guru Burke Carrole (Luther Wright, Jason Collett, Sarah Harmer).
Nine Mile has toured extensively overseas and has released records in Japan, Australia, New Zelaand, Canada and the USA. They have shared the stage with the likes of The Black Keys, Michael Franti & Spearhead, Gomez, Xavier Rudd, G. Love and Special Sauce, Cowboy Junkies, Blackalicious, Sarah Harmer, Joel Plaskett, Israel Vibration, Donovan Frankenreiter and Pete Murray to name just a few.
Look for "Country Porno Electric Fireplace" in stores, online and at shows on September 8th. The Canadian Leg of the CPEF release tour kicks off on release day. More info can be found on the band's website, and myspace sites.
