All good things come to an end they say. We guess it's true 'cause the NINE YARDS book has been closed...
In April we decided to break up and now, after a period of rest, finaly we're getting the message out. We feel like we've done all that was possible with the band. The roaring fire we used to feel became a flickering candle light and we just didn't want this band to end up fighting or anything like that.
So after almost ten years we decided to call it quits and part as friends.
But the good news is that none of us will stop making music. Dennis and Gio have allready started a new project and we will keep you posted on that! In the nearby future this project will get it's own MySpace. For now, keep checking this one for all the latest news...

The perfect rocksong has been written ages ago. Copied, interpreted, arranged and played in a zillion different ways. A catchy popsong is a cliché on its own; the trick is to interpret, arrange and play that cliché as creative as possible. When kicking in this open door, do it with an unexpected and fierce kick. Sing it like you mean it and go for the whole nine yards.
With this spirit Nine Yards works on a solid live reputation since 2001. Without one official record release but with lots of humor and good clean fun they work on an impressive list of gigs throughout the Netherlands. Word of mouth brings Nine Yards from bars and small clubs to summerfestivals and venues like Paradisoand Melkweg. The in-your-face-sing-a-long-rocksongs are radio friendly: the band gets to play live at 3fm, a popular nationwide radiostation. Deejay Claudia de Breij wont hide her love for the songs. All this positive attention leads to another highlight. Playing a show for their biggest crowd ever, on the Museumsquare in Amsterdam at 'Bevrijdingspop' (Liberation Day festival) in front of a couple of thousand of people.
Summer 2005 the band recruits a new bassplayer an this injection of new blood results in a bunch of new songs and a refreshed overall sound. Currently the band is working on a 4 or 5 song ep: a bunch of edgy, guitardriven songs wich somehow finds the balance between alternative and popular rock. Catchy tunes with harmonic vocals from a stainless steel throat.

De ideale rocksong is al lang geschreven. Gekopieerd, geïnterpreteerd, bewerkt, gearrangeerd en gecoverd. Uitgevoerd in alle denkbare instrumentatie en toonzettingen. Een fijne popsong is een cliché op zích. Je kunt je alleen onderscheiden door dat cliché zo creatief mogelijk te interpreteren. Als je een open deur intrapt, doe dat dan dus met een onverwachte maar krachtige trap. En breng die song alsof je leven er vanaf hangt: Go for the whole nine yards.
Volgens dat recept werkt Nine Yards een indrukwekkende lijst optredens af sinds het ontstaan in 2001, zonder ooit officieel plaatwerk te hebben uitgebracht. Met veel humor en rockende pret wordt gebouwd aan een live-reputatie die hen brengt naar zalen als Paradiso en de Melkweg. Maar ook buiten de hoofdstad krijgt de band telkens meer oren gespitst: op zomerfestivals, kroegen en podia in het land duikt Nine Yards op.
De ongecompliceerde gitaarpop blijkt radiovriendelijk te zijn; de band is te gast in de 3fm studio bij Claudia de Breij die haar enthousiasme niet onder stoelen of banken steekt. Indirect leidt deze radioaandacht tot een voorlopig hoogtepunt; het optreden voor enkele duizenden feestgangers tijdens het bevrijdingsfestival 05 op het Museumplein.
In de zomer van 2005 trekt de band een nieuwe bassist aan. Het verse bloed in de band werkt als een katalysator: een reeks nieuwe nummers wordt geboren en bestaande krijgen een nieuwe injectie.
In de IJland studios ziet een eerste e.p. het levenslicht: een handvol energieke songs die telkens weer de ideale balans vinden tussen alternatieve en populaire rockmuziek. Een hoofdrol is weggelegd voor de roestvrijstalen vocalen die de pretentieloze gitaarpop van een scherp randje voorziet, recht voor je raap en recht uit het hart.
