Hello and welcome! My name is Adrianne and I am a lover of all things fashion, fancy, and feminine. Ninkybink is my small label of handmade clothing which I started in 2002 and have worked on, on and off, between other fashion related ventures.
What makes Ninkybink special, other than the fact it is totally one-of-a-kind and handmade, is that Ninkybink is what I call “quirky-chic”, an aura of style that I felt was missing in stores so I made it. You see, I am extremely girly and feminine (bows, lace, frills, satin, flowers, dolly girl look, you name it!) but I am also a little dark (my name actually means “the dark one”), and this is not a gothic darkness or an evil sort of darkness, but more an appreciation for irony, odd humor, and tragedy contrasted with beauty (think “The Virgin Suicides” or “Romeo and Juliet” or music by “The Chapin Sisters” or “The Pierces” just to name a few, of many).
I like that which is a little odd, and I fall in love with quirks…I also love things that are pretty. So Ninkybink aims to pair the pretty and the darkly romantic using colors, textures, prints, and trims. Fashion isn’t going to save the world but if I can make someone happy with a special dress, that makes me happy.
Also, if you are interested, "Critic's Darling" under my top friends section is my fashion illustration page. If you are a band, singer, boutique, author, blogger, etc.. and want something special made, contact me through ninkybink.com for more info!
Do you use patterns or do you make these items from scratch? I know how to do patterns (a bit..ha) but I never understood how designers create clothes out of nothing! It's incredible. I was wondering which you did. I love your stuff :)
Hey girly! You'll be moving really soon, so I was wondering if you wanted to get together for lunch or something before you go? Get in touch and let me know!
