About me:
The Wii is the revolutionary new home video game console from Nintendo. Unlike its competitors, the Wii did not focus on high end graphics and multimedia functions. The Wii chose its own path, something that has yet to be seen in gaming. Nintendo decided to focus on gameplay and the way the user experiences games. Instead of experiencing video games with the traditional controller most players have become accustomed to over the years, the Wii's controller can be held with one hand and uses revolutionary motion sensing controls.
Features
Virtual Console
The Wii Virtual Console is an online service on the Wii, which enables users to download retro games from past video game consoles. Retro game consoles include Nintendo Entertainment System, Super Nintendo Entertainment System, Nintendo 64, Sega Genesis, and the TurboGrafx16. The games are bought and downloaded offline using Wii Points, a Wii currency system used to make purchases online. So far the Wii has eclipsed 100 Virtual Console games with many more on the way. Fan favorites of the Virtual Console are the Legend of Zelda:Ocarina of Time(N64), Super Mario World(SNES), Sonic the Hedgehog(Genesis), and many more.
WiiConnect24
The WiiConnect24 Service is what keeps your Wii connected to the internet every hour of the day, every day of the year. The service allows your console to receive updates for your Wii console, or for specific games. For example; If there is an online enabled game for Wii, such as a first person shooter, the developer could decide to give you new free maps. The way you would see this is, when you wake up in the morning, you will be awoken to your Wii console's front blue LED light flashing. This will inform you that you have some kind of update, and you will then turn your Wii on to receive the update. The same can be said if you have a friend who sends you a message via email or their Wii.
Controls
This is why you if you haven't bought a Wii already, you are going to. The Wii is about experiencing video games in a whole new way, and the controller is how. The Wii's controls boast motion sensing technology not seen in any type of video game console. The Wii Remote and Nunchuck unit both have built in gyrometer's that sense motion, and the Wii Remote has a built in pointer device that, with the help of the Wii Sensor Bar, will let you point to objects on a screen, with pinpoint accuracy. Imagine this; Your playing Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, and instead of using the normal dual analog function that most shooting style games are used to, you point to your enemy and blast it away. It brings back the days of old when Duck Hunt was first released on the original Nintendo Entertainment System and a light gun was used to shoot the target ducks.
