Nironic grew up in the South Bronx, New York City: above average student by day, running the streets at night he finally found his release in writing. After dealing with a legal issue that landed his brother and cousin in jail he decided to focus his energy on his music. “Watching your best friends and family go to jail over bullshit showed me that the legal system had it in for us, so I needed to switch up my hustle.”
At the age of 18 he started working at S.I.R Studios N.Y. and started attending college in Queens. At the age of 21 he left both the studio and school to tour with American funk band, Living Colour. “Touring with Colour was one of the greatest experiences in my life,” says NI. “I just regret leaving school to do it.” While on tour through Europe, Ni was so impressed with the people’s reaction to hip-hop that decided to stay overseas. “It felt good to see people really feeling the music, as opposed to what was going on at home, so I was like let me see where this goes.”
After one week in Prague, he met a young American piano player, Loren Cobel, and formed the group, Cherry Hill. The group quickly gained exposure with their organic sound and songs like “No Surrender” and “Terrorist Shit”. An offshoot of this group, The Regime, featuring Nironic, rapper Emdee and DJ Tuco also gained hip-hop notoriety with their EP “Change the Channel.” One of the group’s songs, “Out of the Fire,” caught the attention of the Czech super group, Indy A Wich, and they asked to do a remix. Nironic went on to be featured on “Live,” the single from Indy A Wich’s second record “Hadej Kdo.” The song became an overnight hit. This led to Nironic and DJ Wich collaborating on an LP, “The Chronicles of a Nomad.” This breakthrough record made Nironic a permanent fixture in Czech hip and drew the attention of Skoop Records, so in 2007 both NI and DJ Wich were signed to record contracts. Nironic released the “Let’s Go” EP in Winter 2008.
In early 2009, Nironic left Skoop Records to start his own imprint, Iron Man Music Group, also known as I.M.Music. The collective was formed to act as a refuge for artists based in Europe to enable them to network with other artists, producers, and booking agents worldwide, while independently releasing records to local markets throughout Europe, the United States, and other territories. Nironic is focused ..ing his forthcoming record, “April 7th,” and subsequently touring in support of its release. He is also recording with French producer Astronote, working with The Regime to release their first LP, and working alongside Hi-Def, an up-and-coming singer who can be seen on tour with NI. Nironic also host a weekly radio show "The Black Out Show" with Dj Rawal on spin radio 96.2, Tuesdays from 7 - 9.
