Music, vintage clothing, old Ford trucks, Ranchero pick-up cars, and Falcon station wagons. I love dogs - especially bassett hounds, good ole down-to earth, come-as you-are people, gardens - not the perfectly landscaped kind, but the quirky ones that reflect the personality of the gardener, 78 records...OLD STUFF - basically if it's old or rusty-I like it!

Music
I love REAL country music - both old and new, traditional bluegrass, cajun, western swing, stringbands, rockabilly and any kind of hillbilly music. I listen to folks like Lefty Frizzell, Wayne Raney, the Delmore Brothers, Bob Wills & His Texas Playboys, Johnny Cash, Johnny Paycheck, Django Reinhardt, the Hacienda Brothers, the Skillet Lickers, Staphane Grappelli, Johnny Bush, Burnett & Rutherford, Crockett's Kentucky Mountaineers, Clarence "Tom" Ashley, Dock Boggs, the Carter Family, Roy Harper, the Pea Ridge Ramblers, Matt Kinman and the Old Time Serenaders, the Roan Mountain Hilltoppers, Joe Venuti, Charlie Poole, the Roane County Ramblers, Uncle Dave Macon, the Earl Brothers, the Wilders, the Balfa Brothers, Doyle O'Dell, Gene O' Quin, the Stanley Brothers, DaCosta Woltz's Southern Broadcasters, Hank Williams Sr... oh, and I gotta add the Red Stick Ramblers too...and nearly any of KING records post war hillbilly stuff like Grandpa Jones, Redd Stewart, Shorty Long, the York Brothers, (((and I do LOVE the York Brothers!!!!!))) Clyde Moody etc...there's absolutely no way to pick just a few favorites, but I do LOVE a good KILLIN' song and anything with LAP STEEL! First and foremost mountain music stirs my soul...I was born with it in me!

Nipper, the WDVX microphone is a hero of sorts-the microphone that has become an icon at WDVX is an RCA type-77 DX Polydirectional Velocity Unit that I'm told lived it's previous life in an armed forces radio station in Anchorage Alaska in the 1950 & '60s until it was surplused out. These microphones became a main staple in most radio & TV studios in this era because of the warm sound they present to acoustic music and the human voice. This is achieved by suspending an aluminum corrugated 1/8" wide ribbon across a gap of very strong field magnet, that generates an electrical audio signal as sound waves travel through the assembly; hence the term velocity (ribbon) microphone.

My first love is music and I feel so lucky to get to share some of my favorite music each week with folks on the radio and web. "Hillbilly Fever" is a classic country radio show on East Tennessee's Own, WDVX. It airs at 7PM est every Thursday night. On Sundays, I do an Old Time Music show from 12-3pm EST, called "the Clinch River Breakdown" it features string band music both old and new, Bluegrass, Roots and early Country Music. The station can be streamed at www.wdvx.com
Vintage clothing is another passion of mine. Red and I clean out our closets at Morelock Music:

Who I'd like to meet:
I always look forward to meeting the folks who come to WDVX for the Blue Plate Special - both the musicians and music lovers in the studio audience.
If you would like to send a CD for airplay consideration on the Clinch River Breakdown, please mail it to this address:
