Our Vision:
We are dedicated to the fulfillment of our mission through quality programs that serve the NIU and DeKalb communities. Our focus is on the status and wellbeing of women and girls, and we are equally focused on improving relations between the sexes. In this way, we contribute to the ongoing effort of society to build a more equitable and civil world for all people. It is our vision that Northern Illinois University, with the aid of our organization, continue to develop as an outstanding leader in the preservation and improvement of women’s rights and safety.

Soroptimists International join forces to tackle education issues.
Together, primary schools for girls are built, giving the children a chance to read and write, equipping them for further education - so as to become independent and capable of making their own living in the future -uniforms and books are provided for, and parents are motivated to take the children to school
Soroptimists go for Water, the theme of the SI/E for the period 2007-2011 encourages a better management of water-sources worldwide. All projects on the website, now a total of 150, center around the availability of water and sanitary facilities.
There are three groups of projects: • the PEP projects (Project Exchange Pool), a cooperation between Soroptimists Clubs of Africa, Eastern Europe, South America and West European clubs. • Projects from Unions and Clubs of the European Federation • the PFR projects (Programme Focus Reports) The first two are built around monetary support to chosen and self-initiated projects.
The PRF projects on the website provide lectures, theme meetings, conferences and exhibitions, activities in schools and Universities with a focus on AWARENESS and ADVOCACY.
