--PROGRAMS AVAILABLE--
DO IT RIGHT:
Dating and relationship workshops with barbecues, potlucks, guest speakers and more for HIV+ individuals.
HARM REDUCTION SERVICES:
Anyone who injects street drugs and is 18 years of age or older can receive safer injection supplies free and anonymously. Bring your used syringes and receive free, sterile syringes and works (cookers, cotton etc.). Information on safer injection, better vein care, risk and harm reduction practices, HIV/STD/hepatitis, abscess and wound care, drug reactions, better nutrition, drug treatment options, safer sex practices and other health issues are also avaliable.
HIV TESTING:
HIV testing is free, anonymous and requires no blood. Testing and counseling is given to everyone who wants to be tested for HIV.
MPOWER:
Empowerment and community building program for young gay, bisexual, questioning men and transgender. Those involved in the program create their own community and shape the direction of the program and events.

NEXT STEP:
A workshop for those living with HIV and their partners, famillies and friends.
Topics include: How HIV affects the body, HIV transmission, how HIV medications work and why adherence is important, safer sex and universal precautions and also sharing a household.
SAFE SEX KIT PARTIES:
Producing outreach kits to raise awareness about HIV testing and safer sex practices.
SAFETY COUNTS:
A harm reduction based group for injection drug users (especially those awaiting treatment). Through educational groups, individual meetings and follow-ups, participants learn skills necessary to set personal goals for reducing their HIV/Hepatitis risk.
SEXY HEALTHY AND GAY (GAY MEN)
SEXY HEALTHY AND GLAMOROUS (WOMEN)
SEXY HEALTHY AND GREAT (MEN AND WOMEN):
A workshop for men and women living with HIV. A three day workshop for developing skills to reduce the stress associated with disclosure of HIV status to friends, family and sexual partners. These skills help participants decide if, when, how and to whom to disclose.
SMART STEP:
A workshop for those living with Hepatitis C and their partners, families and friends.
Topics include: Hepatitis A, B and C, universal precautions, sharing a household, conventional and alternative treatments, lab work and etc.
SYPHILIS AND HEPATITIS SCREENINGS:
Free and confidential screening for high risk individuals (determined by risk assessment).
VOICES/VOCES:
A video based HIV/STD prevention program designed to encourage condom use and improve condom negotiation.
VOLUNTEER ORIENTATION:
Training that provides information about volunteer opportunities/responsibilities in the prevention department. This is required training in order to volunteer with Community Health Promotions.
WOMEN'S GROUP:
Monthly group for women at high risk for HIV/Hepatitis/STDs including; women who do sex work, inject drugs, use crack and homeless women.
Training covers: HIV, STDs, Hepatitis, safer sex, safer injection, cervical health and other health concerns.
You do not have to be a client or affiliated with NMAS to access services or attend groups/workshops.

with HIV/AIDS worldwide. In the United States, over a million Americans
are living with HIV. In the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) there
are over 23,000 Veterans getting care for HIV. The VHA is the largest
provider of HIV care in America. VHA health care providers are skillful
and experienced in caring for persons living with HIV/AIDS. While most
Veterans in HIV care are male, VHA provides care to over 600 female
Veterans living with HIV.

Veterans who are getting care for HIV is 53 years. To benefit from
improved treatments, it is important for persons to be diagnosed in a
timely manner. It is best if a diagnosis is made before the virus
causes silent and serious damage to the immune system.

This workshop examines how bullying prevention programs reduce health risks especially within the LGBT community in New Mexico. It explores how bullying impacts health outcomes and relationships.
This workshop is about creating a collaborative and community based approach to address the ongoing bullying problem primarily related to lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people in schools and communities.
The Workshop will be conducted on Friday, October 30th ~ 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at UNM-Gallup Campus, Calvin Hall auditorium. It will be followed by the showing of the film "The Laramie Project"
All events are brought to you free by the UNM-Gallup LGBT STR8 Alliance.
