About me:
The Wind Up Merchants are guaranteed to get your feet tapping with Red Hot Jazz! We spin hot records and all are welcome to come along and exchange catalogue numbers! We also make a mean plate of Red Beans and Rice. If you do not own any hot records PLEASE PLEASE consult your DEALER (not to be confused with the Taxi Man) and buy lots of wonderful records. There are some listed below! Let's play "Georgia Grind" in the year 4000! Throw out your TV! We recommend Louis Armstrong Hot Five and Hot Seven recordings, Clarence Williams Washboard and Jug Bands, Jelly Roll Morton's recording of Doctor Jazz. Listen to the records of our myspace pals who are clever enough to add tunes. PLEASE listen to RED HOT JAZZ! It's fun! Honestly! Even grumpy old Philip Larkin claims that there is nothing better to eradicate the effects of a day at work that a pint of Gin and Tonic and a good hot record. Personally we prefer wine. In a pint glass, with handles. When we are not spinning hot records we give talks and hang around record stores hiding Miles Davis records and placing hot records in front of everything. Come the Hot Jazz Revolution we will erect a statue of Brian Rust in Whitehall! Yes, you are very welcome to be in our gang. MySpace Layouts

Thanks for the add and i like your idea of hiding Miles Davis records at record stores and putting the hot records or cd's in front. The so- called jazz he played just gave our music a bad name with the general public. How many times people have said to me after they find out i like jazz,"I can't stand jazz. I heard a Miles Davis record once and jazz is just bunch of noise without any melody"
Fortunately the Ken Burns PBS program had segments on early jazz and the public finally found out about the real jazz of Louis and Bix and the others and liked it.
No matter what criticism we might have of Ken Burns programs they still provided the general public with their first exposure to 1920's jazz. And fortunately a lot of people liked what they heard.

Great page! Is it any coincidence that 1927 was the best year for jazz and you guys are the Number 27 Rhythm Club! You have a wonderful tribute to the golden age going, and some really great records pictured- thanks for finding and adding me!
