NO2ID isn’t an abstract idea, random profile or logo sitting in your top friends. it’s thousands of us manning stalls, attending protests, engaging in the political process and writing to our local papers. Bringing our concerns regarding social justice closer to the communities which we know the NIR and Identity Scheme will have a real impact on. Grass roots support is appreciated but YOUR support in YOUR area is vital.

A NEW PARLIAMENTARY BATTLE
This is one of the most serious threats to our liberty and privacy we've yet seen.
The government is trying to remove all limits on the use of our private information by officials. This means taking your information from anywhere and passing it anywhere they like - including medical records, financial records, communications data, ID information.
The Database State is now a direct threat, not a theory.
Clause 152 of the Coroners and Justice Bill, due for its first debate in the Commons on Monday 26th January, would convert the Data Protection Act into its exact opposite. It would allow ministers to make 'Information Sharing Orders', that can alter any Act of Parliament and cancel all rules of confidentiality in order to allow information obtained for one purpose to be used for another.
This single clause is as grave a threat to privacy as the entire ID Scheme.
Combine it with the index to your life formed by the planned National Identity Register and everything recorded about you anywhere could be accessible to any official body.
Quite apart from the powers in the Identity Cards Act, if Information Sharing Orders come to pass, they could (for example) immediately be used to suck up material such as tax records or electoral registers to build an early version of the National Identity Register.
But the powers would apply to any information, not just official information. They would permit data trafficking between government agencies and private companies - and even with foreign governments.
THIS IS WHY WE MUST ACT NOW!
We need you to do three things:
1) Please ask everyone in your group and/or on your mailing list to write straight away IN THEIR OWN WORDS to their MP via http://www.WriteToThem.com - do it this weekend, if not before. The Bill is being rushed through Parliament, even as we write.
Get everyone to ask their MP to read Part 8 (clauses 151 - 154) of the Coroners and Justice Bill, and to oppose the massive enabling powers in the "Information sharing" clause. The Bill contains a number of controversial provisions, but to the casual reader it appears mainly to be about reforming inquests and sentencing. It is due its Second Reading in the Commons on 26th January 2009.
Request your MP demand that the clause be given proper Parliamentary scrutiny. This is something that will affect every single one of their constituents, unlike the rest of the Bill. There is a grave danger that the government will set a timetable that will cut off debate before these proposals - which are at the end of the Bill - are discussed.
2) Write letters to your local papers. Also, put out a group press release saying you have written to your local MP (once you have!) and pointing out that this will affect every one of his or her constituents. Highlight the fact that the information sharing powers in this Bill are overwhelmingly unpopular.
A YouGov poll in the Sunday Times on 18th January (details here: http://forum.no2id.net/viewtopic.php?p=100808 ) shows that the public opposes these new powers by a factor of 3 to 1 *against* - 65% of people asked said they would give government "too much power", only 19% thought not.
The government can't pretend a popular mandate for what it is doing. And it is a mechanism designed to by-pass Parliament in future. It is being done only for the convenience of the bureaucrats.
3) Tell as many people and other groups (local political parties, union branches, the WI, churches, mosques, temples, etc.) as you can. And find out more yourself. We have created a new page on the website dedicated to 'data sharing' which contains links to the key documents and a brief explanation of each.
Please read it, and pass on this link:
http://www.no2id.net/datasharing.php
Let your friends, family, colleagues and anyone who might share our concerns know that the battle for their privacy is happening NOW. The more people wereach, the more we hope will act.
We really can't afford not to win. Good luck!
NO2ID is a national campaign fighting against the National Identity Register and Identity Card scheme. There are groups all over the country with NO2ID regional groups in Scotland prominent (second only to London) in its peaceful campaigning activities. We are a large group of people from all walks of life united in our concerns about Identity Cards and the consequences. We are non-partisan, non-profit making and completely voluntary. This profile is aimed as a means of awareness and as a stepping-stone to help you find out more and hopefully get involved.
To instantly learn more here is the most articulate and comprehensive over view of the ID scheme I have ever seen so Click here to read up on the Id card issues and implications. Thank you James for letting us link.
Thanks for visiting! If you aren’t one of the growing number of friends to NO2ID Scotland please please add us!
No evidence has been forthcoming on how identity cards effectively combat terrorism, rising immigration, identity theft or that vulnerable feeling of complete reliance on a government dragging around a history of failed IT projects.
WHAT CAN I DO?
THE PLEDGE
The government thinks it is being clever. It will be registering people on the ID cards database when they apply for a passport or other official documents. You may have heard that the ID card is “voluntary”, but once your details are entered onto the ‘National Identity Register’ database they are there for life.
It is not just about a card. Once the details of your life are captured the government will be sharing them with and between an ever growing list of agencies and building an ever more detailed picture of your life. The HMRC disaster with child benefit records has shown just how dangerous that can be.
Millions of people now know that having their identity “managed” by the government is a bad idea. In just four weeks in 2005, more than 10,000 people pledged online to refuse to register for an ID card. You may have seen public figures declaring that they will go to prison rather than be registered.
The NO2ID Pledge is your opportunity to make a personal and public declaration that you will refuse to comply with government control of your identity. Keeping this promise means you avoid registration on the National Identity Register. It is a serious commitment. Though at the moment there is little to resist, the government is going to try and make life gradually more inconvenient if you don’t comply “willingly”. But with tens of thousands of others making the same declaration, life could get pretty inconvenient for the government too.
It is currently perfectly lawful to declare that you will not comply with the ID scheme. It is possible that refusal could be made a crime, but the government has shied away from that so far. If enough people say no, it will be impossible. There would not be enough courts to prosecute 100,000 resisters, let alone millions. Together, now, we can build a wedge of opposition that will jam the wheels of the ID scheme, and protect the personal privacy of everyone in the country.
The more people who commit themselves to resist, the more effective it is. Say no to ID and it becomes more difficult to put pressure on you and everyone else. Get your friends to pledge too, and everyone protects one another.
Click here to find & contact your MP . This government likes to play down the fact that their members represent you not own you. Use the link to drop your representative a line. Each minister across the country receives heavy levels of correspondence regarding this legislation so please add to the pressure. (they write back too which is always funny)
Click on the T shirt to access cool merchandise, the badges are gonna be collectors items and the bands we are involved with cant get enough of the T shirts.
We want to hear from you if you are about to apply for your first passport or know a mate who is and fancies a bit of undercover work. In today’s transparent society you would think the format of the interview process would be available but it isn’t. WHAT ARE THEY HIDING? Get in touch with us especially if you are in the Glasgow, Edinburgh or Dundee area where interrogation centres are up and running.
Send us your thoughts on ID cards as we are setting up a slide show with quotes from myspacers, If you can include a picture that would be great but if not we can use your profile image!

Almost Tomorrow is the third full length collaboration album from Section 27 Netlabel founders Tam Ferrans and Andrew Paterson, under their Nonima & theAudiologist guise. This time around the sound is more melodic, and has a definite feeling of a complete and more mature sound than heard on the previous LP's "Dystopian Battle Hymns" and "Ceremony After Amputation". If you are familiar with their individual projects you may even be in for a slight surprise, as the tracks are not as beat driven like before, but are more atmospheric and sound, well... "bigger". In its 75 minutes, Almost Tomorrow takes you on a trip from the digital rain-soaked cavernous scraping in "Thoughtograph", the ethereal beat jittering of "The Colour of Rain", intercepted transmissions from unknown places in "Com-Intercept", "Ganzfeld"s huge yet strangely insect-like beats until everything you knew comes crashing around you in "Almost Tomorrow". Burning pianos, glitched out soundscapes and intricately programmed beatplay, this may well be their best work to date. Consider it the soundtrack to a rainy overcastday, but with just that glimmer of sunshine peeking from the clouds. "Almost Tomorrow" wears its heart on its sleeve.
After the majestic powerhouse of an LP that was [Audissect], Ventolyn & Becotyde delivers another 7 tracks of electronic nourishment. "Neuro Torque" expands upon the ideas of [Audissect], ups the ante, and adds complex rhythms, complete with tasty melodies and added crunch. It also flows like a dream with every track complimenting the next, this EP delivers the goods then takes your face off. Ventolyn & Becotyde and Section 27 are proud to give you "Neuro Torque", now available for free download. Like all good things should be.
One more release from our own Nonima, this time collaborating with fellow noisemaker Sonal. The sound and tone of "The Death of Youth" is quite a drastic change from what may be expected, there is some technically programmed beats and clicks aplenty yes, but it's the abundance of ambience and Sonal's heavily processed guitar work that makes this release a worthy addition to Nonima's hastily growing catalogue of releases.
Recorded one night in June as an improvised jam session between the two artists, it evolved into what we have now. Complete with some rather disturbing samples from serial killer testimonies and the brilliant "Session 9" movie by Brad Anderson, of course.
"The Death of Youth" is certainly dark and fractured stuff, perfect for headphones at 3am. Available as a *free* download from Section 27's site or from the link below. Its all in the numbers. ;)

Nonima & Sonal - The Death of Youth (IDM, Experimental)
Just cos the ID card scheme has supposedly 'died' on it's arse doesn't mean that the slimy New Labour insiders and sssslipppery 'Lord' Mandelssssson haven't amassed everyone's personal info on the database via the passport system... keep up the good fight...
"Accordingly, I want the introduction of identity cards for all British citizens to be voluntary and I have therefore decided that identity cards issued to airside workers, planned initially at Manchester and London City airports later this year, should also be voluntary." - Alan Johnson June 20th 2009
Having released a couple of tuneful albums with theAudiologist and Soni Jimm since my last LP, "Fear of Mathematics", Section 27 Netlabel brings you "Wrpdata”, containing 14 tracks full of chunky, breathy and some would even say pleasantly broken breaks, some good-time-mind-fuck glitch, a few (thankfully blissful) orchestrated mixes featuring the talents of Pinklogik and theAudiologist (also acting as co-producer on this release) respectively, and ends sweetly with some beautiful spoken word poetry by the lovely aussie Cindel Waddington.
A delight on the sensory organs from start to finish, "Wrpdata" is available now for *free* download. Licensed by Creative Commons.
This morning when God opened a window to Heaven, He saw me, and He asked: "My child, what is your greatest wish for today?" I responded: "Please, take care of the person who is reading this message, their family and their special friends. They deserve it and I love them very much" The love of God is like the ocean, you can see its beginning, but not its end. This message works on the day you receive it. Let us see if it is true. ANGELS EXIST but sometimes, since they don't all have wings, we call them TRUE FRIENDS. Pass this on to your true friends. Something good will happen to you at 11:11 in the evening; something that you have been waiting to hear. Do not break this prayer; send it to a minimum of 11 people including me!!!!""
