Heroes
Gerald Wittock, founder and CEO of NO2 Records, is born in Rome (Italy) on September the 28th, 1966.
Graduated in International Business (High Business School), he has also studied musicology for six years. He plays piano since 1972, writes music and lyrics, and is member of SABAM since 1985.
In 1991, he wrote with his friend, Vito Lucente (aka Junior Jack), the music of “Tu Cuerpo” for the rapper Jazzy Mel. The track was n°1 in Argentina.
In 1994, he moves to Paris and works as independent for many labels. He focuses on marketing projects, associating music and brands (AXE, GIBUS, GODIVA, SAN PELLEGRINO, SYSTEM, TOYOTA…).
In 1998, he creates his publishing company and joins the independent publishers at SACEM.
In 1999, he met Pino D’Angio... They worked, together with Scream, on a house remix of “Ma Quale Idea”. Signed with WEA, the track was n°1 in the Clubs Charts in France.
In 2000, he met Claude Challe and starts working on lounge music. He launches TOKYO 2001, signed with WARNER, and BALI BAR, on Nocturne.
In 2001, he moves back to Brussels and joins the international headquarters of Play It Again Sam [PIAS], where he will stay ‘till September 2004.
He is appointed A&R of the house label NoiseTraxx and launches “Trust it”, the first album of Junior Jack, with the worldwide hits “e-Samba”, “Da Hype” (feat. Robert Smith) and “Stupidisco”.
During that period, he also signs, with POSITIVA (EMI), ROOM 5 “Make Luv” (feat. Oliver Cheatham), n° 1 in UK and many other countries, with a huge marketing campaign associating the track “Make Luv” with “Pulse”, the fragrance of LYNX (AXE); and later with ENDEMOL for the reality show “NICE PEOPLE” on TF1.
He launches the house compilations MEN – MUSIC FOR ADULTS ONLY, NRJ EXTRAVADANCE…
His publishing company (NO2 Records, formerly Zeta zerO) signs a publishing agreement with Oliver Cheatham for ROOM 5 “Music and You” (album and single).
Between 2001 and 2004, he is also running [Follow Up], the lounge department of Play It Again Sam. He signs compilations and projects such as
BANGKOK 2002, BARRAMUNDI (vol.1 to 3), CHINE (vol.1 to 3), LA BANANE, SENTEURS DU SUD, WHITE LOUNGE (vol.1 and 2- LES JEUX D’HIVER)…
He signs the electro-lounge albums of RED FISH “4 SEASONS, 4 LOVES”, OBERSOUNDZ “PEBEVAHO”, PINO D’ANGIO.. “LETTERE A FEDERICO FELLINI”…
In 2004, he launches the album “LA TVA TUE” (VAT KILLS) in order to claim against the high taxes on records, compared to the low taxes on books.
At the end of 2004, he creates his own label, NO2 Records.
