Sounds Like
The sound is hard to pin down cause the songs move in many different directions, touching heavily on blues/rock, r&b/soul, folk, and alt-country. So what ever that means to you, I guess you could say Americana
Noah Gabriel is a singer/songwriter/guitarist from Aurora, Il(that's right Wayne's World). After years of watching and listening to his dad play guitar, Noah picked it up at the age of 12. By 15 he was performing in talent competitions and writitng his own music. After highschool, he got hooked into Chicago's suburban scene, and by 20 he had his first record deal. The album "In Aurora," was released on Batavia based "Hidden Track Records"
a label that one of his mentors Dana French of Deluxury, was on, and run by good friend Dennis Kintop. On this album, released in Jan '05, Noah met his band, and recorded a duo with local legend Greg Boerner called " Tonight." The album recieved great reviews and some airplay on local radio. Noah was also a semi-finalist in The Independant Music World Series. 2007 was a big year for Noah, he left Hidden Track to put out his second album independantly with the help of his band. The band, Gary Belniak (Tyrant), Michael Addyman, Tim Polite ( Acousticity, The Byrds), Bobby Scumacci ( High Infidelity,Dave Mason), and their sound engineer Craig Whitaker, pulled together and at the age of 23, Noah released his second album "Truth, Love, Faith, and Soul," in March of '07. The album once again recieved great reviews, Erin Carmen of 97.9 The Loop (WLUP), said," Noah is one of the most captivating artists since Ian Moore," and it recieved airplay in Chicago and over seas. In the summer of 07, Noah won Batavia's Art In Your Ear Competition in the category of best blues song, and won 2nd place in Arkansas' Ozark Mountain Blues Society Challenge, held in Fayetteville. The most recent project Noah has been involved in is "Acoustic Chicago." It is a cd/dvd compilation put together by Chris Steinmetz, head engineer at Chicago Recording Company(CRC), and his new indie label, Stonecutter Records. This album was just released in Nov. '07, and features some of Chicago's brightest rising stars including The Lovehammers, Sarah Potenza, Scottish McMillan, Malcolm Palmer and many more. While on this project Noah got to record and work with Ernie Adams, drummer for jazz legend Al DiMeola, Howard Levy, founding member of Bella Fleck and the Flecktones, and many other amazing musicians. Noah was one of the few artists with more than one song and video on the compilation, and was also hired to do session work for fellow artist Malcolm Palmer. Noah seems to be in constant evolution as a singer/songwriter/guitarist, already a prolific songwriter, and never wanting to be comfortable, he keeps on pushing himself. He will soon be getting back into the studio to start another project or 2. You can check out some of his music right here or
