Your body being cut in half by sound alone + revenge.
Ian and Alex were born. Years later, they met in Brisbane City. Later still they formed a band. To date they've ruled at their band. Since forming they've released two records: 2008's 'Fire Flood & Acid Mud' and 2009's 'Steam' (coming March 21) - both recorded by Cam Smith of Incremental Recordings, both somehow tampered with by Lawrence English (the sound artist / Room 40 mogul) and both distributed totally independently because that's how they roll. Even if it's up hill sometimes. At points inbetween No Anchor have supported Magic Dirt, Monarch (France), The Grey Daturas, Children Collide, Nunchuka Superfly, I Heart Hiroshima amongst others. One day they will break up, that seems inevitable. Also inevitable is the fact that Alex and Ian will die at some point in the future. Sorry. BUT...before they break up (&/or die), they absolutely intend to spend many years making beautiful, graceful, face obliterating music and exhibiting this music via a continued succession of recordings and live shows. Think of them as the Guided By Voices of Australian noise-rock, or don't think of them (accurately) at all. This is the mandate of Alex and Ian. Help them to help you, to love or hate their band - that's all they ask.

What A Guy Called Bread Man Said:
"With a sound reminiscent of groups like Boris and Om, Brisbane’s own No Anchor fit in perfectly with tonight’s lineup. Consisting of no more than a drummer and a bassist, No Anchor manage to create a super-heavy fuzzed-out atmosphere that is more than enjoyable. Certainly, this is a band to keep an eye on." Welcome to the planet of the Scrapes. Everything that you know has crumbled and your monuments have returned to the Earth. The Metropolis is no more. The pavement is cracked with tree roots pulsing like veins through hills that never end. This is the future you never predicted even when its icy grip tugged at your wrist. There is a real beauty to it though...the victory of nature over corruption...the sound of trees rustling against rusted industry...the cry of birds above the din of ceaseless traffic...a post-industrial caterwaul from the darkest corners of your memory. Our place is dark, but there are cracks of light through the canopy and a different kind of life thrives here. The air is warm but the wind is cold and the horizon never ends. A landscape both familiar and forgotten...ancient yet regenerative. There are no masters here so close your eyes and forget everything you remember.
