Ever since their first performance in 2006, the Belgian trio No Angry Young Man has touched many hearts. In consonance with the band's philosophy, they build their reputation the old-fashioned way. They earn it.Timeless music combined with an energetic live act and a lot of improvisations is the basis of No Angry Young Man: in an acoustic setting, folk, pop and traditional jazz is transformed into something new. Along the years, the band played shows on famous Belgian festivals and venues like Maanrock, STUK (Leuven), Arenberg Schouwburg (Antwerp)and Dranouter.
The cello often takes the role of lead guitar and in combination with 3 vocals, No Angry Young Man creates a unique sound. The carefully chosen instruments - guitar, piano and cello - shape the overall sound. Occasionaly, the band invites guest musicians on stage. Be prepared for a set of intimate, ambiant and outstandingly powerful moments.
The band's first title less release was recorded during the winter of 2008, with producer Bai Kamara Jr. (Vaya con Dios,Youssou N'Dour) and sound engineer Philip Masure (Urban Trad, Lais, Ambrozijn, ...). The mixing was done by Marc Francois (Ozark Henry, Novastar, ...)
“No Angry Young Man”, is derived from a quote Bob Dylan made in 1969. He told the press: "I don't want to protest any more. I never said I'm an angry young man." No Angry Young Man...
Depuis 2006, les trois musiciens de No Angry Young Man touchent bien des cœurs de notre plat-pays. La notoriété du groupe grandit au fil des concerts en Belgique (festival Maanrock, STUK à Louvain, théâtre Arenberg à Anvers et à Dranouter), mais aussi à l’étranger. L’énergie des musiciens sur scène, leurs nombreuses improvisations et le caractère intemporel de leur musique ne laissent, en effet, pas indifférents : ce trio belge interprète ses compositions originales teintées des influences folk, pop et des bribes de vieux jazz dans une ambiance acoustique.
Le violoncelle endosse souvent le rôle de « première guitare » et le mélange des trois voix de No Angry Young Man donne à ce groupe une sonorité unique. Avec ses trois instruments soigneusement choisis que sont le violoncelle, la guitare et le piano, le trio nous fait partager des moments musicaux aussi bien intimistes que plus rythmés.Avec l’hiver 2008 arrive l’enregistrement du premier album de No Angry Young Man.Celui-ci est réalisé en studio avec les producteurs Philip Masure (Urban Trad, Laïs, Ambrozijn,…) et Bai Kamara Jr. (Vaya con Dios, Youssou N’Dour). L’album sortira dans la première moitié de l’année 2009.

had het video'ke al gezien, ziet er echt wel heel cool uit :) proficiat met de cd en de video enzo, echt goed bezig mannen!
ga m'n best doen om nog eens een showke mee te pikken, wou heel graag gentse feesten showke komen checken, ma ben der uiteindelijk niet geraakt... moet wel scheve apres-show hangouts geweest zijn op de gentse waarschijnlijk :)
wij hebben ook nieuwe schijf uit, dus uiteraard altijd welkom! nu zaterdag bijvoorbeeld in de sojo (kickass fest, jaarlijks feest van ons label!).
