Noctiferum was raised from the depths in MMVI by Pestilenz (Runenblut/Wurzelkraft).
Sargatanas (III) joined and Noctiferum was planned to be run as a two men project.

The intention was to create an old-school Black Metal band, but more and more Sargatanas took part in doing the conceptions. He already did all the music, so it was just a matter of time that he started to get more perfection behind the whole songwriting.

In winter MMVIII Pestilenz left the band for personal reasons and so Sargatanas search for musicians began. NoA (III) took part in doing bass and lyrics.

After some time Steiner (ex-Ewig Frost) joind to handle the second guitar and Amun (ex-Ravenhorst) joined to give Noctiferum a voice.

The lineup is almost complete now, but a drummer is still missing. A session drummer for their first demo "Serenades of the Impure" was found in F.M. (Seeds of Sorrow).

The essence of Noctiferum is a sinister illumination, that worships the decease of all existence.
