Dare and Marty grew up together on the Wirral listening to prog, krautrock, spacerock, new wave, punk, artrock, funk, classic 60s pop singles, glamrock and heavy rock, probably the reason for their diverse and eclectic sound. Moving to Australia in the 80s Marty joined the influential Australian band The Church and, for a while, All About Eve while Dare concentrated on becoming an engineer and producer, founding the VIP Lounge studio in Penzance, Cornwall. They formed Noctorum in 2002, releasing their first album, Sparks Lane, on Heyday Records, an independent label in the US. Their second release, Offer the Light was released in August 2006. Dare Mason was interviewed recently by David White of BBC Radio Cornwall. He gives many insights into the world of Noctorum as well as his own production work at the VIP Lounge. Just click here to listen.

Hey you guys, what's up? Just thinking of you, particularly as I'm going through a Laura Nyro revival phase just now. She was such an amazing artist; I marvel at such vast creativity and talent. Of course, you're not so bad yourselves. Hope you are enjoying the beautiful summertime. Lots of love to you.

Dare & Marty - happy easter from a snowy Stockholm. I hope you'll make it here for a concert one day soon! Take care & keep up with the brilliant music!
“Offer the Light” is a really great album. It's got such a variety of genres and influences. It completely matched my mood when it arrived – I love it when that happens. “The Muse” is one of the most beautiful love songs I have ever heard and I think the whole world should hear it. How about adding it to the myspace rotation as a start? Also, it’s great to hear Dare’s singing voice on this and “Sparks Lane.” You should sing on more tracks, Dare. :)
It's an honor to be seen on your page, and a pleasure to be among your friends!
"The Season" is nearly upon us. When you're in the mood to blast some techno Sugar Plum Fairy, or chill out to Arabian Dance, you know where to find it!
