The project was initiated in London in or around 1980 by Nigel Ayers (b. 1957) together with collaborators Danny Ayers(b.1964) and Caroline K (b.1957). Numerous other members have come & gone. Now based in Cornwall, on a nodal point on the Mary-Michael Ley, the mission continues in some kind of polytantric union with the multiple personalities of one "solo" member and a cast of thousands.

From early in their work, the group concentrated on the axiom of music being a form of social control, and highlighted concepts such as information overload, cult conditioning, brainwashing and subliminal advertising, in a critique of information society. Their music drew heavily on worldwide folk traditions as well as that of the international avant-garde.
Why should I hang my fortunes on walls? Can the clay speak? Unmask the fraudulent medium! Hoar frost and snow come down with full-gathered momentum, yours to command.
A drifting scroll of printout covers the mighty with vegetation flesh. We, the living snowstorm substance,
flowing forwards, geomagnetic force increasing. We have
dipped in the flow of magnetised light, like a dancing costume. Fingers tingle, a dragon beam burning on the altar
of our hearts. Hydraulic exhalations of the genius loci,
144,00 priests behold the deep jungle sky.
The frequency of the word is now visible, the original thought is retained.
The immovable movers in the blood and fluids, ticked with
moths like a frozen banner. Wings touch, uniting the pearl stream of dreamers.
The new cycle begins in the name of the beast within us. The hedgerow blooms fully, tearing the
envelope open, focusing, seeds crushing the producers of
copper, for the restoration of your birthright. The corners
of the eyes embody a languid warm breeze. All the substance
of Heaven is in your backyard, unknowable and
uncontrollable.
Recorded: live on March 16, 2003 at the Beta Lounge in San Francisco
In 1967, San Francisco’s Fifty Foot Hose were certainly one of the
innovators of a sound that took Psychedelia to new heights and was
captured on the band’s one record, Cauldron. They are a totally
unique hybrid—on one hand pulsating bay area acid rock, on the other,
fractured electronic freakery, becoming one whole cohesive being. The
sci-fi-ish video game-like artwork hinted at the sounds within, as did
the Limelight label’s pedigree for truly progressive sounds. Band
leader, Cork Marcheschi, used homemade electronic devices to create
crude and experimental soundscapes and instrumental compositions that
were sprinkled throughout the album.
Often starting shows with a swelling rumble that exploded into the
first song, they soon developed a rabid following on the SF scene,
though there was the occasional totally wrong gig, like when a
very-pregnant Nancy had to perform at a Catholic Girls’ school! Still,
the group wowed the crowds, performing with greats like Chuck Berry and
Fairport Convention.
Interesting music here as usual! Keep it up!
