my name is Vee Diawara. I’m a producer, remixer and guitarist. I’ve been producing albums and touring with my band SKAMP since 1998. During a U.S. tour in 2005 I saw a dj set be Z-Trip in L.A. I’ve been hooked on mash ups eversince.
I started NO DJs as a side project in 2007, but it has almost evolved into a full time job now. In the studio i do the audio and video mash ups on my own. When performing live i work with several different musicians and singers, dancers and VJs. We use samplers, guitars, keyboards, percussion, drums, vocals, live visual mixing and do live mash ups. It’s usually a 3 hr set and it changes everytime. We just improvise on the spot.
I chose the name NO DJs because i’m not a DJ. No hate towards DJs. I just see myself as a live performer and i have to much respect towards real DJs to call myself one. Basically, what they do with their turntables, i do with a mic, a laptop, a bunch of controllers and instruments.
