I had seen Curmudgeon once before, at the Santa Fe Cafe, and was very impressed with their energy and enthusiasm.
At last night's show at The Santa Fe Cafe, Curmudgeon yet again delivered - with that same raw energy.
This time I payed more attention to their songs and the way the music was put together.
I noticed heartfelt melodies for vocals, a wall of sound coming from the two guitars, and the rhythm section was not just holding the rhythm - but rather contributing to the dynamic and powering the foundation for the guitars and vocals.
Curmudgeon's vocalist has an energy about him that leads the show and you can feel his passion. Timothy's energy was on display too. You can tell these guys enjoy and feel the music that they create.
The songs have powerful time changes and very good riffs.
I would really like to see these guys in a venue with a real P.A with the drums mic'd up.
