Antoni Cierplikowski "Antoine" [1884-1976] - a famous Polish hairdesser of international repute. He was the first who created the short hair-styles for women called "garcone" (the first haircut was for an actress Eve Lavalliere in 1909). Among his clients were the most rich and famous people, actors of those time in USA, Britain and France: Sarah Bernhardt, Josephine Baker, Édith Piaf, Brigitte Bardot... etc. He also designed styles for MGM. Was a friend of Xawery Dunikowski and Jean Cocteau...

Witold Pilecki (May 13, 1901 – May 25, 1948; codenames Roman Jezierski, Tomasz Serafiński, Druh, Witold) was a soldier of the Second Polish Republic, the founder of the Secret Polish Army (Tajna Armia Polska) Polish resistance group and a member of the Home Army (Armia Krajowa).

During World War II, he became the only known person to volunteer to be imprisoned at Auschwitz concentration camp. While there, he organized the resistance movement in the camp, and as early as 1940, informed the Western Allies of Nazi Germany's Auschwitz atrocities. He escaped from the camp in 1943 and took part in the Warsaw Uprising. He remained loyal to the Polish government in exile and was eventually executed in 1948 by the communist secret police Urząd Bezpieczeństwa. Until 1989, information on his exploits and fate was suppressed by the communist regime.

I had a fishman passive pickup in a couple of my ukes, and a Dean Markley undersaddle that I installed myself. Both are good. I run them through a LR Baggs Paracoustic DI (I use it as a pre-amp) thereby making it an active pickup. Fishman also makes external pre-amps as well as other companies. The guy who installed my first pickup recommended the Baggs. I've heard it "colors" the sound, but I can't imagine that any other pre-amp wouldn't color the sound. And in a way you'd want your pre-amp to color the sound since the sound of a passive pickup kinda sucks on its own as far as piezos go. Best of luck. If you've got a drill and a steady hand you can install the pickup yourself, the dean markley requires no soldering. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PdLUDWoh-cE&feature=channel_page
vid will show you how to install a pickup easy.
