What we need to do right here is go back..way back. If you wanted to hear house music in the London in 1986-87, then your best bet was to head to Delirium on the Charing Cross Road. And if you were looking for one of the most sussed DJs, then Noel and Maurice Watson were the boys. The club was founded on Hip Hop and rare groove, and many of the London B-Boys hated this new music that was burning up the clubs of Chicago and beyond. The management had to install a cage around the DJ area to protect the Watsons, who were so far into the scheme now that they werent going to relent in their mission to convert the capital to house. Maurice was spending much of his time in New York, checking out the Paradise Garage and realising that this house thing was unstoppable.Noel meanwhile had continued to host regular club nights and events around London,DJing alongside the BEASTIE BOYS,THE CLASH(at a benefit gig at the Brixton Acedemy)DE LA SOUL,JAM MASTER JAY,DJ CHEESE,MARSHAL JEFFERSON,FRANKIE KNUCKLES,DEREK MAY and many more luminaries from the hip hop/house scenes,Noel also headlined many events and club nights worldwide,including Shoom,The Wag,Back To Basics,Boys Own,Land Of OZ,MK NYC,AREA NYC,THE WORLD NYC,Enter The Dragon,SUNRISE,The LANGUAGE LAB,INSPIRATION INFORMATION,333,The Cross,The Menace,FULL CIRCLE and countless others.The Watson brother's had already been spending time in the studio producing and mixing,and Noel had honed his skill's at providing the music for most of Londons cutting edge designer's including 3 shows for Alexander McQueen,2 shows for Hussein Chalayan,Ally Capellino,Comme Des Garcon,and many more.The brothers had also mixed the highly influential ELECTRO SERIES for Streetsounds Records,mixing Vol's 2,4,5,7,9 and Crucial Electro 2,plus Noel has also mixed and Produced LP's and Singles for artists inc THE FARM,AGE OF CHANCE,The AFRICAN COMPILATIONS for New Yorks Celluloid Records,and many more independent dance productions for labels inc SLIP AND SLIDE,JUNIOR BOYS OWN,TOMATOE,PEOPLE RECORDS and ARTHROB,were he was signed under the FINI DOLO moniker alongside spoken word high priestess SONJA SOHN,who is currently starring in HBO's 'THE WIRE', Noel is still releasing and producing cutting edge dance and indie-leaning traks under many different guise's while keeping close links to West Londons PEOPLE RECORDS and the Broken Beat scene,and finally is presently operating outta Belfast were he is starting a new production studio,Label and office and trying to immerse himself back ino his irish culture and roots.For a further reference into how influential the Watson brothers were check Bill Brewster and Frank Broughtons 'Last Night a DJ Saved My Life',and over his long career Noel has certainly done that....Peace ..
