No Empathy was a Chicago-based punk band started in late 1983 by Marc Ruvolo (Vocals) and Iggy Recinos (Bass). The two had met while playing in a short-lived version of Gross National Product and soon decided to start a band of their own. Shortly after, Craig White was added on Guitar and Chris Russell on drums. Their first show was on July 13th, 1984 at a downtown Chicago YMCA. Recinos left the band after three shows and was replaced by Tom Costanzo. Ruvolo became the only constant member over the band’s 13 year run, but the line-up of Ruvolo, Martin Geraghty, Chuck Uchida, Steve Gallup, and Kurt Stephens is considered the “classic” line-up which recorded most of the band’s output and lasted seven years. In that time, the band shared the stage with many punk legends such as 7 Seconds, Fear, Stiff Little Fingers, Bad Brains, NO FX and Fugazi, plus touring the continental US numerous times. No Empathy played their final show in 1996. Ruvolo also started Johann’s Face Records to release No Empathy material, which soon after expanded to release records by other bands such as The Smoking Popes, Alkaline Trio, Apocalypse Hoboken and many more. The label continues today and is approaching 100 releases. He currently sings and plays guitar in Das Kapital.
About this page: I have been very active in Domestic Violence causes all of my adult life. I noticed a need in the world pertaining to Same Sex Domestic Violence. It happens more than people know. Unfortunately there are a number of gay people who barely consider themselves worthy or valued as a gay person much less a Domestic Violence Victim. There are also very limited resources, statistics, or information, for Same Sex Domestic Violence. Hopefully through empowerment and education we can change some of this. :D ~ Dee
Affecting CHANGE can be a daunting task. Affecting GLOBAL change? Try HERCULEAN. Still, with an issue as big as GLOBAL WARMING, it's going to take an equally enormous effort to make change. One organization is doing just that. It's 350.ORG, the international CLIMATE CHANGE campaign. Partnering with individuals and groups around the world, 350.ORG is changing the way we look at our changing climate. Already, 350.ORG has impacted environmental legislation in America, inspiring politicians to cut carbon 80% by 2050. On October 24th, 2009, 350 goes worldwide.
In coordination with 350's international day of action, ADITA.ORG releases "C350: MUSIC FOR A MOVEMENT". This compilation consists of a wide variety of artists from around Chicago, the midwest, and beyond. "C350: MUSIC FOR A MOVEMENT" benefits 350.ORG, with promotion of the October 24th day of action, and monetarily with each sale. ADITA.ORG is the digital home of A DAY IN THE AIR, a personal zine written by Bradley Adita. "C350: MUSIC FOR A MOVEMENT" is A Day In The Air #24 and the 4th CD to be released since 2000.
