There's a hole in that wacky single photon theory... A black hole. If black holes do indeed have enough gravitational force to trap light, then what of their captive photons? If there was only one photon in the universe, what then? It would take some sort of temporal jump for a single photon to exist as a trapped particle, as well as illuminating the entire universe.
