Co-founded in 2004 by guitarist/producer Shoshke-Razyl and bassist/producer Benoir the NOIRKESTRA recorded PSI-FI-HI with stellar musicians Mathew Baranello - drums, and Sylvia Mincewicz - electric zeta violin. Engineered by Grisly Labs Dane Johnson and released through indy label MUSICNOIR, this CD has garnered major praise for its trippy time warp through the psychedelic vortex. Shosh and Sylvia worked the electronic efx hardcore with tons of pedals and techniques, while Matt and Noir laid down some bad-ass grooves. Some overdubs were contributed by Jodan (sitar), Paul Petrissans (flute), and guest artist Heath Mensher - bells, whistles, voice efx. After its release at Joe's Pub with additional guest artists such as Karel Ruzicka Jr., Lee Farber, Dan Covan, and Anna Pipoyan, the NOIRKESTRA moved in a more groove oriented / dance direction. Benoir continued on bass, while Dan Covan joined on handsonic, Lee Farber - drums, Jodan - keys, and Shosh on the guitar. The band premiered their new sound at the ECLECTIC RIDE, opening for vocalist Anthony Mills, who collaborated with them at several live shows in New York City and the Hamptons. A rough demo was cut with this line-up live in a studio, and those will be some of the tracks you'll hear on this site. Currently all the members of the NOIRKESTRA 1 & 2 have full time music projects that keep them busy. Sylvia with Ambitious Orchestra, Matt with Ya Esta, Benoir/Shosh = Dub Affair, Lee Farber - Ultrafine, Jodan & Dan Covan creating many recordings on their own. This site is basically a place to meet up our network of music enthusiasts who enjoyed our CD's, live shows, and want to know about the REUNION SHOWS in the planning. These shows should feature many previous members, and possibly some new peeps who fit the vision. Other musicians who have played with us live include; Abou Diarrassouba (drums), Alex Kalfyan (bass), Katie Elevitch (vocals), Gary Lewis (keys), Michael Lawson (violin), DJ Industrialized Average (keys), and John Madera (drums) . You can listen to some clips at cdbaby.com/noirkestra or buy the CD and get the full effect. (two minute clips don't do it justice since the songs are journeys and developed through the performances) Ann Arbor DJ Arwulf (WCBN) played a whole hour of NOIRKESTRA & DUB AFFAIR material in 2006. Our CD is available at I-tunes music store. NOIRKESTRA:PSI-FI-HI
There are the leaders and the followers.
Give us a shout if you dig it.
Give a shout if you're into making the difference, fighting indifference or just having a day off of normality.
I've put together a night of runk and fock music on May 14, 2007. I'm thinking of calling this the "It's After the Last Days; Don't You Know That Yet?" Party, with a respectful nod to the incomparable Sun Ra. Or maybe just: "Revivalution."
Anyway, come join us for a fantastic evening with four stellar bands: Ultrafine is first up at 8pm with their new wave sounds, subsonic bass, and chanteuse vocals for your earhole. Think the Brazilian Girls and Kudu with a splash of Gwen Stefani. Then, catch Mother Flux spreading a love remedy for your blues and ushering in the revival (without the fire and brimstone). After us, at 9:50pm, Ancient Soul takes over. Their sound harkens back to when rock in the vein Sabbath, Maiden, Dio, etc. reigned supreme. If you dig Wolfmother and Priestess, you'll love this band. Closing out the night at 10:45pm is NathalieD and Benoir with their stream of consciousness laptological soulstew.
Come early and stay the whole night. You'll go home fully rocked out. And we all need that on the regular.

The renegade artist Oscar Wilde wrote that "Music is the art which is most nigh to tears and memory." The poet Percy Bysshe Shelley also wrote about how music echoes within the mind when he wrote: "Music, when soft voices die, vibrates in the memory."
Please join me as I my music reverberates to keep from crying at our next show. We're playing in Billyburg this time around.

"there no excuse for war except of course bitterness which is always good for a stagnation or two" and thats what we live in-- a Stag-Nation...i've got a weapon of mass-CONstruction (my guitar) and i'm going to stop the world in its foolish tracks. Below is a visual mantra and if you click on it you will be transported to a land of truth, bliss, and freedom. peace.
"let there be no more war"
it's so funny, this little conundrum,
which warring folks and those who support their primary function,
repeatedly drone on: "god made the world to be this way,
so who's to say, what wrong or right?" they say...
apparently they think they are
the chosen ones to carry uzis,
claiming the ultimate power to take life,
and all in the name of Allah or Jesus...
to put it simply, war is private mourning
sublimated into public vengeance
and if you could REALLY forgive your enemies
there'd be no more war,
so why don't you come to your senses?
yes and who's to accept the circumstances as they are ?
I ask with solemn deference
while riding in your car
looking up the stars...
cause if you could could really forgive existence
and accept that death is always here
then this fucked-up cycle of vengeance would
finally disappear...
there never was a borderline
there never was a spoken truth
there only was this consciousness
uniting all in the same root
so i don't care what country you're from
i don't care what name you call god
if you could really forgive
there'd be no more war
o let there be no more war.
Good idea of selling the tapes, I'll see if I can get some copies on time from Belgium.
Don't worry about enough tape or memory, I always have plenty.
Do you need the footage for your segment? Because I have enough footage for the rest of HL.
"And then there was music and wonderful roses they tell me in sweet fragrant meadows of dawn and dew."
Hello NOIRKESTRA,
After much sangre, sudor, y lágrimas (that is, blood, sweat, and tears) Mother Flux's debut recording is now available. Lester Bangs appeared to me in a dream last night reviewing my recording for the latest issue of Creem. Here's an excerpt: "It's a potent brew of throat-throttling, soul-checking, and manic progressive rock and rolling thunder. And they ain't banging on their bongos like a chimpanzee."
